Pera the US is always correct to support independence. It was correct in the case of Montenegro and it will be the same for Kosovo. The time of colonies is fortunately over!
Look at Montenegro. Its economy and negotiations with the EU develop faster. Serbia, this dinosaur of our times was holding them back. Independence will be even a bigger plus for Kosovo. It will be undesirable only for Serbia, who kept it like a gulag for so long. It will hurt Serbia's pride.

Its funny when Serbs portrait us as mafia and terror-links when the US intelligence service knows much better then these teenegers who have never sat their foot in Kosova bisedes reading propaganda news from Serbianna!! Kosova is gone from Serbia since -99, you dont belive me come and visit the place and tell me if thats Serbia!

The Americans always support independence, as a rule they believe it is a good thing. The US actively encouraged Montenegro's independence believing it to be a precursor to Kosovo's independence. Serbia must intensify it's diplomatic efforts to explain why in this case independence is the most undesirable outcome.

"I am an American and I in no possible way support Serbia's principles of ethnic cleansing. America bombed you once. It will not hesitate to do it again. Having the best military and intelligence, we know full well who Serbia is. America's stance on Kosovo is calculated my friend.
Tell any US soldier/marine who took part in the humanitarian intervention in Kosovo and they will tell you stories of how barbaric Serbs really were.
(Art, Sunday, 25 March, 2007, 06:37)"

Well, you guys are certainly doing very well yourselves in Iraq. Thanks to your invasion, over 2 million Iraqis have fled their country. Not exactly ethnic cleansing but close enough. Only the numbers are far, far higher.

You should also ask your US soldiers who managed to return alive from Iraq how they are coping with their psychological problems from the bombings (ie. from booby traps and suicide bombers). Not very pleasant when you are at the receiving end of the bombs is it?

Oh, I am pretty sure your military intelligence are the best. But even they need others to rescue them sometimes -- your government just voted to quit Iraq in September 2008 regardless of outcome (read between the lines: even if it meant fleeing in defeat like in Vietnam)

Vojvoda do you believe in what your saying? Serbia is honorable? Serbia has principles?

Then please explain the justification for the killing of more than 10,000 Albanians and systematic removal of more than 800,000. What, were they all part of the mafia?

I am an American and I in no possible way support Serbia's principles of ethnic cleansing. America bombed you once. It will not hesitate to do it again. Having the best military and intelligence, we know full well who Serbia is. America's stance on Kosovo is calculated my friend.

I say again... The NATO intervention was based on humanitarian issues, but Milosevic is gone so the old argument no longer stands. Be clear about the legalities: 1244 does not allow for an independent Kosovo.

If the US and NATO want to turn this into the conquest of Serbian territory they are taking an extremely stupid and dangerous step.

Never again will NATO be able to use the humanitarian argument - trust will be gone.

Albanian Mafia is a legend created by those who are struggling to find an argument against Kosovo's independence. On my opinion, mafia has not a passport or a nationality. As everywhere in our impoverished peninsula, in Kosovo there is organized crime. Of course in Kosovo or Albania, this crime is not that organized as in Serbia where they killed even the prime minister. But we know it is a problem and our societies are curing it. By the way, international justice institutions and foreign supervision in our territories is more present than in Serbia, given Albania is much more advanced than Serbia on the process of Eu integration, and Kosovo is ruled by international institutions. So all that legends of "mafia with a state" or "state with a mafia" is just a final cry you are making to scare the west with an inexistent danger. On my opinion, this trick would work if your public would be composed by primitive and stupid individuals. But given you are adressing it to a much highly developed and democratic public such as the western one, you are making a total stupid and hatespeeching image of yourselves in front of the civilized world.

you forget to say that those are GREEK members of European Parlament, keeping saying always the same. I would strongly recommend you to travel to Southern Albanian and check the situation with your eyes. As for the rest, it's not very clever to copy and paste fron Serbianna or related sites. If you don't have nothing to say of your own, better listen and learn.

Joe

What kind of principles are you talking about? Certainly not democratic or moral principals. A country which protected and hid war criminals, allowed and still allows atrocities against minorities in Vojvodina can in no measure claim adherence to democratic and moral principals. Serbia never had yet a chance to know democratie.

For Kosovo and US is better to have Kosovo a state with institutionalised crime than a province governed by a state with institutionalised crime. I don't know, but when I go in Montenegro police wants money (euros), Macedonia same, Albania same, Serbia same, Bosnia same, wheras in Kosovo this is not happening. Whenever Kosovo police stops me, first thing they do is they apologise to me then ask for documents.
Glad to live in Kosovo with institutionalized crime.

Today in Kosova is Day of Hope, day in which before eight years before NATO started bombing Yougoslavia. It was a hope for all civilizated world that the evil will be stoped, and especially for Albanians from Kosova that serbian ocupators will be removed from our country. Maybe a lot of you don't like it but thats true. I know that you will deny a lot of what I say, but it is not the first time that you do this. You had the chance for many years with Kosova, and what you did??!!! And why??!! You try to deny the humanitarian dimension of those attacks, but everyone knows. Now we are in 21'st century, and the news spread all around the word within minits. Before, all what you did was covered, but not this last time. And, if Kosova is mafia, what do you think what Serbia is then?

Alban/Tirana

pre 17 godina

Yeah yeah yeah. Albanian Mafia bla bla bla. The last time I remember it was in the border between Kosova and Macedonia that was seized 500 kg of cocaine and the transporter was serbian. Anyway, independence of Kosova is the right thing. Everyone on their own toward the integration in EU.

Aleks

Unfortunately Kosovo is already under the control of the Mafia. This is what the FBI, EUROPOL and other law enforcement agencies all say (it's all there on their websites (or in the FBI's case, testimony before Congress).

But, living in these politically correct times, it is not done to mention it too much!

Kosovo is only out done by Albanian which is a 'failing state'. Northern Albania is a no-man's land for law enforcement, the border with Greece is a dead zone, the greeks having move away because of continuous raids against their properties (these are not my words, but from members of the European Parliament who went 'on mission' to check the situation out). Again, the real situation is being ignored and not reported for 'political considerations'.

The KLA mafia is leading the albanians down a deadend street. They don't care.

The 'International Community' (i.e. the 'West') is just closing its eyes and pretending everything is A-OK.

The 'Professionals' have run out of ideas....

why can't we solve our problems in our own!?! I wish we were clever--Albanian, Bosnian, Croatian,Serbian, Montengrin, Macedonian--to move out of this mess as soon as possible because it is not a good reputation for our countries. We are also poorer than the rest of the European countries thanks to this mess that we have created, period--end of the story.

Hmm. This seems to me like another dazzling display of U.S. foreign policy incompetence. It is really extremely dangerous to hand Kosovo over to the albanian mafia. Experts on the subject agree that "Kosovo don't have a problem with organized crime - Kosovo has state institutionalized crime".

Or in other words; an independent Kosovo is not a country with mafia - it is mafia with a country!
