Abdul Aziz,

the balkan peoples are already a long time toys and victims...

the problem is that the Albanians do not get it, that they are being used...

but one day they will have to face reality.

it's simple ...we can have a divided ballkans. Serbia would leave/give up all occupied lands they got over centuries! So, to leave Ballkan in peace

I'm not convinced the Bush administration wants a solution to Kosovo. The haven't made any strong statements about it at all (Despite the claims of the title of this article). Keep in mind the Republicans strongly opposed Clinton's policy in Kosovo. Is this a chance to embarrass Hilary in her bid for the Democratic ticket? I am positive that Bush would have no problem at all abandoning the Kosovar people if he thought it would help the Republican Party. I'm guessing he's going to let Russia has its say in Kosovo in exchange for help on North Korea and Iran. Bush would just love to embarrass France and Germany for opposing his war on terror. The silence from Bush on Kosovo is deafening...

Serbian authorities, which ousted Milosevic from power in 2000, have identified 924 victims in the mass graves uncovered in Serbia. They said 53 were children younger than 16, and 72 were women.

Serbs have KNOWN this for a very long time..

The real problem is that partition of the ghost country yugoslavia was made under the assumption of vegeance of the past and not a real door for the future. The serbs was took like the good guys and executioners of this get even hid under the imperial dream of the great serbia, only the slovenes escaped of the massacre, the others had the right of be victims and the serbians the right of be the warlord with all rights upon the peoples and land. Serbs demonstrated be a irresponsable mad people putting tales above national rights and using stupid violence for granting their goals tottally out from any reality. Kosovo is only a piece of the process of the reality imposes itself over the irreasonable dreams, sebians demonstrate be not able of stop with gains, the only thing that made their heads is brutal force. they took west slavonia from croats made many ethinic cleansings and all receive is the promise of a bright future in the new europe if stop dreaming of a great serbia build over the others, ... but still not able of have a awakening only want rights and rights like the serbia would the only real nation in balkans. there are the diplomatic affort of create a new balkans build of the humilliation of all peoples, humilliation that retire of them the national feelings. the history had teached that this is impossible future and not get evens from past must be created in balkans, if not one day serbs will pay their maddness the today protection of serbians will not be eternal, serbs need awake up now when have the advantage the future is not at their side.

"Janjić believes EU enlargement chief Olli Rehn’s remarks yesterday worked only to undermine NATO’s and UNMIK’s credibility."

'Credibility"????

NATO has been searching for a mission and a reason since the end of the Cold War. Every time there is conflict NATO says it has to get involved because its 'credibility' is at question.

Not even NATO knows what it is for.

As for UNMIK, their reports that 'it's all alright jack' don't correspond with reality.

Everybody knows this but the EU honochos and the US refuse to recognize reality publically, Yet we see the recent report by the Institute for European Politics: The Failure of the West's 'Ostrich' Policy (http://www.spiegel.de/international/0,1518,471178,00.html) and no comment on it. Why the silence???

we all know what happened in iraq and afghanistan. who was bin laden and saddam before. they were american friends. they were tools of war made from the west. if ever war will come to kosovo, it will not be from within, not from albanian extremists or serbian military, but from external western powers. war is their business. the people will only become toys and victims.

RE: Potential of War

There is no potential of war, just continued lack of movement and freedom of the minority Kosovo Serbs.

Unilateral independance may lead to a divided Kosovo similar to Cyprus.

I must say that I agree with both the Belgrade and Pristina analysts about the unlikelihood of war. Obviously Rehn and Holbrooke are the warmongers.

Your posting in the Lavrov article comments sounds about right to me. What's your feeling about the 10-year future of BiH?
