Cabinet talks deadlocked; Đelić “unacceptable”

Let's hope the politicians can now formulate a govt - it is inevitable that Kostunica will be PM and the DS need to realise that this is the best way forward.

Kostunica is trusted regarding Kosovo & Metohija and above all else this is what is important at this conjuncture. Equally DS are respected on a pro EU stance and the cooperation with Hague stance so the compromise for Kosutunica is to give the depts that will open SAA talks and see if the EU is not all about talk.

Now is the time for the Serbs to be as Serbian as they can - that is what the Russians have asked!

Let's hope that President Boris Tadic realizes that it would be political suicide for his DS party to accept the DSS's demand that its bolshy leader Vojislav Kostunica remains prime minister.

Most of the votes that DS gained in the election were from voters fed up with Kostunica, his nationalist policies and extremely undemocratic lack of accountability for the country's top public office.

Get rid of him so that the country can finally shake off its past and advance. Serbian citizens deserve more.

The people of Serbia will wait patiently for the next Government, and there may even be a fresh election for all we know. This is why it is better to use the time the Constitution allows so as to avoid a fresh election.

Serbia waited 78 days for NATO to stop illegally and immorally bombing Serbia, and I guess the EU should have to wait at least 78 days for a new Government.

It is better for the Parliamentarians to use all the time they think is necessary, because in way they will maximize their chances of avoiding a fresh election.

You have got to be kidding!! First of all, Russia will do what Russia finds in their interest. Haven't the Serbs learnt their lesson yet? Look at history, does anyone really believe that Russia will sacrifice anything for us? The main reason as to why there is no government are twofold: 1. No one wants to be the one holding the bag over Kosovo and 2. Everyone is fighting who will get what ministry. Who knows..if we have new elections, if each party will get the same results and in Kostunica's mind that may be his ace. He could get better results the next time around.

Immorally? lets see, serbian army was causing attrocities in kosovo....yeah only serbs can see how stopping that can be immoral or illegal for that matter. I dont recall any law that makes it illegal to prevent killing.

Daniel, get me right but are you suggesting that it is ok to prevent killing by killing? NATO bombardment that killed was moral? I guess you espouse blood fueds as a normal and civilised method of settling disputes and conflict!

Look into the other great illegal war carried out by the US & UK - Iraq - where they stoped the "dictator" and brought democracy and peace [sic].

the fact remains that both DS & DSS need each other along with g17+ in order to form a Govt. Other possible combinations would not be as favourable (from western perspective but not neccesarily Serbian) but then I don't think new elections are favourable either! So if anyone is stopping the formation of a Govt it is the DS in not calling in DSS and making them compromise too.

Then again it would seem that g17+ are not too impressed with Delic either. Coalition govts are difficult to create and easy to fall apart so it is better that all of this gets sorted now - to create a stronger coalition rather then leave ambiguities that weaken it in the future.

Lollee - yes your right the Russians will do what is in their interest. However, they cannot be more Serbian then Serbs and that is a hint that if you want to get the your best interest served then you guys need to let us know what you want loud and clear. The predicament Serbia is in with regards a possible imposed loss of 15% of territory and population is becasue of an earlier period of weakness and not standing by principles of Serbian sovereignty which were reaffirmed after the bombardment in resolution 1244. If you wish to be weak and accept the land grab of your property please let us all know where so that we can now make a claim!
