The DS could be saying that they might stay in opposition as a way of getting the President who belongs to the same Party to call a fresh election. The DS may gain a few extra seats, especially given that the EU has said that they will start talks on a SAA agreement.

This could influence the election result by giving extra votes to the DS, at the expense of other Parties posible even the DSS-NS and G 17 Plus. If the opinion polls are starting to favour the DS, then the DSS-NS and G 17 Plus may try to form a Minority Government with the support of the SRS, if the DS want to stay in oppsition.

The old democracies are not really democracies, and they are not really dictatorships either. After giving the subject some thought, I think that Serbia is more democratic in some ways than the old democracies because of it's several Parties.

The thing for Serbia to do is to remain the liberal democracy that it already is. A liberal democracy is a Represenative Democracy that has free and fair elections, along with the protection of minorities, and it has the Rule of Law. The Rule of Law means written and publicly disclosed Laws that are passed by a majority in Parliament after proper debate. There is a seperation of powers between the Executive, the Legistaltive, and the Judical branches of Government. There is the freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, fredom of religion, and the right to own property.

All these things just mentioned are guaranteed and enshrined in the Serbian Constitution. The sixth principle is a matter of contention, and a principle of liberal democracy is to share the power as much as possible. Serbia should take all the time it needs to negotiate a new Government.
