Canadian talks about Serbia losing Kosovo as another physical loss but spiritual victory but then talks about money. What has money ever done for one's spirit. Being in the EU is not worth Kosovo. It is completely contrary to the Kosovo meaning to give something away for money.

"That's funny, because Boka Kotorska and the surrounding area mysteriously shuts down for 3 weeks every summer while a person of importance visits the area. It is an open secret that Karadzić frequents the area and a lot of residents there talk about him and his entourage of police that protect him while he's visiting."

Hey, Nate, you just can't wait till the first of April, isn't it so? Where in the world have you heard such a nonsense as this "open secret"? Do you know where and what is Boka Kotorska?

Not really, Serbia does not need the EU as much as people think...like the PM said "We support a European future but NOT at any cost..." Montenegro does not realize this and has already sold of its most important infrastructure...and is not the best place for tourism either I'm afraid.

Montenegro faces wide spread corruption (I find it funny that most Pro-independence supporters are some charged by nations abroad for crime....) and they are in no way have a economic level capable of joining the EU....I think they will have to wait a loooong time.

Never the less, congratulations Montenegro...if you honestly think it will help you.

Serbia is at a crossroads, it looks like the political equation of potential EU integration will be very complex- and ironically an imposed independence of Kosovo might be the tonic to wake Serbia up out of its EU fantasy!

The reality is that the EU only cares about Serbia in relation to its own neo-colonial needs. This of course would follow the experience of nations like Poland (please feel free to read yesterday's B92 article on their lovely experience in the EU) whch export large quantities of cheap labour and provide new, uncompetative markets for EU products.

Draskovic says it best:
“However, I’m not sure what would happen with this Euro-enthusiasm if, for instance, Kosovo were to be declared an independent state,”

What an imposed Kosovo independence could do would be to act as the catalyst for Serbia to reinvigorate the true meaning of Kosovo for the Serbian nation- which is a spiritual victory in the wake of a physical loss. Pursuing national economic independence would provide the opportunity for a truly free, democratic society which would not be exploited by the EU like others have been thus far. While Serbia may be doomed to live without Kosovo, it has the special opportunity (unlike in 1389) to maintain its freedom.

Drašković told B92 that Montenegro, having discarded the burden of the Hague cooperation with its May 2006 independence, achieved the pre-entry deal with the European Union easily.

I see how Montenegro benefits from being in the EU I do not see how the EU benefits by having Montenegro a member. Once again Serbia is left behind. Doesn't Koradzic live in Montenegro?
