For the Government to change it's policy on Kosovo it would mean that the Constitution would have to be changed first, and that could take a while, even if Parliament were to agree to hold a referendum.
Perhaps the LDP has seen a favourable opinion poll and is hoping for a fresh election to get more votes, and therefore more people from their Party elected to Parliament.
The majority of registered voters have voted for the Constitution, and that is the Foremost Legal Document of Serbia, and all democratically elected Honourable Members of Parliament need to keep this in mind. Serbia does have freedom of speech, but that freedom does not include treasonous speech. The LDP could say that they are in favour of changing the Constitution over Kosovo, and that they will put forward such a proposal for Parliament to consider. Sometimes it is not so much what you say, but how you say it.
The EU can be fully assured that a new Government that is totally committed to Europe will be formed soon. I hope that the EU does not interfere in the electoral process of Serbia by commencing SAA talks if a fresh election is called to help the LDP.
Talks for the SAA agreement should only commence after the new Government has received it's mandate. My opinion is that it would be better if a fresh election was not needed, because it could discourage business investment.
At the same time no democracy should ever be afraid to hold to have a fresh election if this is needed.
