Give Serbia time, there are still people (including my grandparents) who believe that several Nazi generals were heros and that the Nazi government did nothing wrong, The wounds of the Balkan war that Milosevic has inflicted on his own people are fresh, but not everyone is fully aware the rammifications of his actions, just as there were germans who were in denial over the Nazi government. The fact that people are so outraged about the Serb's ignorance is stupid, Think of Turkey, USA, France, UK all other countries that have commited attrocities that are glossed over making Serbs seem like the blood thirsty bane of the human race.

The problem is that, while 69% of Serbs favor cooperation, a much smaller percentage favors the arrest of Mladic. In their opinion it's entirely possible to cooperate (or to show that they're cooperating) without arresting Serbian heroes. And another big problem is that all influential politicians (starting from Kostunica) and military officers belong to the 31% that opposes all forms of cooperation. This is why Mladic will not be arrested, and the Serbs will keep complaining about their isolation, while doing absolutely nothing to change it.

Interesting developments. If nearly 70% favor some form of Hague cooperation, it shows that the vast majority of Serbs want the indicted war criminal caputred and handed over. I remember last year when the deadline to hand over Mladic passed, and many Serbs were furious at their government for being, what they claimed, "held hostage" by one man - Mladic.

The denial of Srebrenica is sad and regrettable, but it also shows that a growing number of Serbs are beginning to accept what happened. This is unlike Turkey where denial of the Armenian Genocide has become tantamount to one's patriotic duty. Yet Serbia has no equivalent to an Article 301, making it a prosecutable offense to "insult Serbianness". We still need to neutralize the hardline nationalist factor held by the SRS. Only through further intergration into Europe, a normalization of relations between Serbia and her neighbors, and a firm committment by the international community to help out Belgrade rather than constantly punish it, will Serb opinion of the 1990s accept what happened.

Any individual guilty of crimes should face justice regardless of his ethnicity.Do not justify beastly behavior under the cloak of war.A gentleman soldier displays courage but also honor and mercy even in the worst of circumstances.
