The last thing that our people need is another history lessons John. Even if there people listening, your version of history is not necessarily true or the right one. In the Balkans there are at least five other version of history about the same event.
It is also absurd for you to bring up what supposedly happened during ottoman years as a justification for the actions of a modern state such as Greece. Should I be feeling the burden of some collective guilt for something I do not know? Cause I surely don’t. We have to move away from primordial view of nationalism that feeds on exclusion and derogation of the other.

RE: Citizenship

Citizenship of any country is a privilige and a right accorded under the constitution and rule of law & traditions of that country.

Illegal transport of aliens & false citizenship cannot be tolerated in a democratic government.

In Greece, there is large Albanian and Eastern European population who have migrated into the country illegally and have been employed with low wages. It is as much the fault of the Greek business community as well as the illegal immigrants coming into the country.

PM Constantine Karamanlis is committed to adhering to Eurpean Standards although the problem is becoming larger.

The Crimes from illegal aliens is rising against Greek Citizens, enforcement by Greek Custom Guards between the Greek and Albanian borders and now Kosovo must be enforced. Easier said than done, the US/Mexico border is a prime example.

Prejudice is everywhere Dan, even such an angel as yourself has prejudice.
But this case has to do with something greater, it has to do with xenophobia within an institution that CAN be controlled and not with free civilians who cannot. What does this say of a country's army who is in NATO and who is in the EU. Should we train armies in such a way that builds hatred for a people we're supposed to be in friendship with?
If an institution tolerates and even recommends the spread of xenophobia, then what can there be done to stop it among society.
Think Dan. Think.

Albanians, you need to take control of your criminal gangs and put them in JAIL!! Make the effort, at the very least.

Then, you can expect some respect and folks will not make jokes or sing these kinds of songs.

Albanians are standing in the need of a GOOD and HONEST POLICE force and GOVERNMENT.
Get to work on it! YOU CAN DO IT.

Relations are strained because of 1.the treatment of greeks in albania 2.southern albania(the greek area)was given self rule status by an accord signed buy the european powers and America but has not been enforced.Stop thinking your so innocent,we all know what the albanians did during the ottoman years and world war two!

Well, don't jump to conclusions Fadil. Look around. If you think prejudice only exists in Greece, you're delusional. It exists in Germany, Italy, Turkey, everywhere in Europe, and yes, in Albania and Kosovo. Let's see how warmly Serbs treat Albanians and Albanians treat Serbs. How much love do Albanians have for Serbs anyway?

This latest incident should not be perceived as an isolated case. It should not be a surprise either. What it is surprising is the ‘margin of error’ of standards allowed to Greece by international organisations. Institutionalised racism and xenophobia have been constant trademarks of the Greek construct towards its neighbours. These so-called incidents keep reoccurring on surprisingly regular patterns and show something more intense than regional frictions and prejudice. Maybe Greeks really believe that they can get away with murder in today’s Europe. Don’t think so.
