The general's statement should be very eye-opening. Violence and unrest are exaclty what will happen in Kosova if independence is not proclaimed quickly. The situation has been escalated by Belgrade's uncooperative stance and the international community's failure to resolve the matter fast.

It is very easy for someone sitting far away in Belgrade or Brussels to talk about patience and negotiations. They do not realize how hard this is for people living in Kosova.

I see no evedence that GEN Kather is worried about the soldiers. KFOR is prepared to deal with all eventualities. March 2004 will not occur again. But it will be easier for all involved if the settlement is quick.

No i don't think he is afraid he is trying to avoid blood shed there will be no more running from nato. So he is warning all parties if you want force to be used to keep the peace it will be done. Yes i am vacationing in Kosovo right now.

Is the General afraid his troops are no match for marauding Albanian radicals or WHAT?

In March 2004, the troops ran like babies or just stood like stautes and watched the violent Albanians destroy homes and churches. Now, THAT was a very poor performance indeed.
