I have seen gravestones in KiM that are telling another story...very openly showing engraved pictograms of greater Albania, including even parts of todays Macedonia and Greece.

Does Serbia really want Russia to protect its national interests? A Russia that is run by the most corrupt regime in the world, and is one of the biggest violaters of human rights.
the only thing K-albanians could eventually do, is declaring independence unilaterally, but that would be a severe mistake, since it would bring the Albanians only into greater difficulties, what is probably wanted by the US-administration in order to be " needed " in the region for a longer time period.
unfortunately the Albanians are not able to see, that they are being abused.
instead of that, they still think "America" is their friend...
if they did not demand serbian territory, I would almost have sympathy for them.
The plan A-htisarri as it is currently without the obligation for Serbia's sovereignty over Kosovo & Metohija is never going to be passed. When Ahtisarri submist his porposal that is it he will have no more influence and it is at that point that the obligation to 1244 will be included.
Many ethnic-Albanians won't like this but there is no way it will get 9 affirmatives (Affirmative vote yes not abstain) irrespective of veto's. Those who have said they will not support a resolution that ignores the international law of inviobility of a state - China, Russia, Slovakia, Congo, Ghana and now Indonesia

Only the US & UK are certain affirmatives - 7 away from being accepted even if Russia and China abstain!!!
I guess this is why the Russian Foreign Minister says to present plan A-htisarri as it is would be "Futlie & counterproductive". No one in the international community respect the US & UK since they were shown up for blatent lies over Iraq - something they got away with in 1999 but not anymore.
There does not appear to be any LEGALIST solution on the horizon for Kosovo independence if the Russians stick to their stated principles.The legalist Europeans seem to be backtracking now that they have encountered a Russian wall.

I can not agree more strongly! The Serbian and Kosovar negotiating team should learn to work together on the easy questions first and build a relationship together. Regardless of Indepedence or not, we need to learn to work together and negotiate. The first step clearly is to see what we agree on first, and build some respect between our negotiators. If and when the region joins the EU, we are going to have many shared interests, and unless we learn to cooperate, the larger more advanced Western countries are going to completely overwhelm us.
