Gareth Evans, what can I say about him. Always had delusions of granduer when he was with the Australian Labor Party, and by the looks of things, nothing has changed. He was full of hot air then, in much the same way as he is now. Not a person to take seriously by any stretch of the imagination.

ICG is a US-funded group professing to be an independent think tank. It has been clamoring for Kosovo independence since Day 1.

If you read ICG's past articles, you would see that it used to be very dismissive of Moscow's clout in the past. I would even say contemptuous. Now I am detecting some element of grudging respect for Russia.

As I stated earlier, it is open secret that ICG is really a US mouthpiece. That's why while it screams at every opportunity for Kosovo independence (because the US wants it), it does not call for Palestinian independence (because US doesn't want it). The double standards is so obvious.

I did not want to comment those ridiculous comments bragging around and acting like they know how Russia will react even before there is a final proposal on the table...

but reading now that even some NGO-dreamer feels the necessity to express his wishful thinking, or should I rather say, he´s just doing what he´s paid for? :)

there is one very certain way to prove non-seriousness: telling us what Russia is gonna do, before it does so.

think of it, before you start calling others racist or dreamers or whatever.

by the way: has any single Albanian poster here condemned the albanian attack on a red-cross-transporter bringing a serbian woman to the hospital?

and they just dare to constantly claim to have any moral rights...

China is also a Serbian ally and we share the same principles and threats to our homelands. When looking at principles and past friendship to determine the future, Russia and China are on Serbia's side, and we, little Serbia, are on theirs so long as they stand up for principle.

“Russia will abstain,” says ICG president. Though an ever-so-present option for Russia all along, the possibility of Russia abstaining its vote seems not have raised any flags for Serbia! Rather than fight the inevitable, (Kosova Independence,) Serbia should have (and should now) focus on relations that lead to understanding and reconciliation with its new neighboring country- Kosova.

What Mr. Evans said can be confirmed by the today's statment of Mr. Lavrov, saying that" Russia will not force Serbia over Kosova" and than he adds" Russia will not be part of the efforts to implement the Ahtisaari scheme"
So, Russians ar backing up.
After all they have no say over Kosova. They did not invest money and efforts there. US and EU did. So its their obligation to protect their investment.

Vetoing Ahtisaari’s proposal is not as important or significant as vetoing Kosovo’s application to join the UN, much like how China has blocked Taiwan’s membership for decades.

But, will they do it?

Russia has used its veto 122 times in the UNSC, but ONLY 4 times since 1984. Will Putin return to a Cold War style of politics? That is the big question.

Is the author of this outlandish idea a member of the inner Russian circle in the Russian government? Nope! So, his comments are merely his own personal opinion. And we all know about opinions don't we? Just like our backsides, we ALL have one!!

Wishful thinking Mr Evans...thats your wishful thinking!Just another obscure,para-NGO guy who thinks he can read V.V.Putin's mind. You wish:-)

Ahmet,

what I was suggesting ironically was that Athisarri is suggesting the partition of Kosovo & Metohija along the lines offered to Republika Srpska & Croat/Muslim Federation in BiH.

So really are you happy with where BiH is 12 years later since this would be the supposedly final solution that clearly is not working for BiH let alone what would happen to Kosovo & Metohija under such a scenario. Added to this what if Republika Srpska splits now that it has a precedent - it has been under UN administration too!

Interesting to note that you would be happy with partition - you will also note that Athisarri will ensure that Church land remains it's property - I guess Metohija (Greek for Church land) stays in Serbia and all we are then discussing is the partition of North & South Kosovo!

I am very suprised at you Princip, till now all I herd from you was about serbian sovrenity over KOSOVA and win-win amongst other phrases. I can see now that you have waken up from your deep dream. I am glad to see that my friend.Come to KOSOVA for our celebration, which is looming.

"Ahtisaari’s document and the Dayton Agreement are primarily designed to suit the interests of the international community"

- maybe there is room for Serbia to accept this partition proposal that Athisarri is formulating - who is to say that the Serb "entities" won't be in the same position in 12 years as is Republika Srpska - if they could be better defined and enlarged - possibly continuous then I suppose the "entity" Athisarri is formulating along the lines of Dayton might be acceptable - I wonder if the ethnic-Albanians are entirely happy with what is being formualted?

Kosovo & Metohija will become a new re-frzen conflict. 12 years from now the US can blame the EU for not doing better in the failure of creating a central and strong govt and poor economic growth. I suppose the fact that Bosnia has a flag, anthem, and UN status does not guarantee any economic re-development!

That said it needs more then 6 days of talks to iron-out such detail.
