Sorry J.S. for the hard wording I used, and thanks Corrector for clearing thing , but it seams to me with infraction and, the devalue of the dinar it actually less. I would of liked if the comparison were in Euros. But I think the Serbian economy can be a powerhouse in the Balkans if Serbia lets Kosovo go and send Mladic and Karadzic to The Hague. Another thing Serbia nneds is to get Mladjan Dinkic back as Finance Ministry, because he did so much for the Serbian economy.

Thanks and have a great day!!!

Looking at monthly figures is good, but it does not give us the overall trend, because monthly figures do fluctuate considerablely. The article concludes by saying that after one year the average net salary rose by 25% in real terms.

I think that was the important point, and it clearly shows that this can only be because of good economic management, and strong confidence by foreign investors in the Serbian economy.

Thinking people do not believe eveything they read, because they know that most people come with their own biases and secret agendas. This is why the wise businesspersons will make their own assessment. I believe that the only risk is for buisnesspeople not to invest in Serbia, and I base this assessment on the available data.

George: december salaries in Serbia (like in most countries) usually have an end-of-year bonus included. Therefore the comparison is ridiculous. It only makes sense to compare with the previous year.

J.S. what are you reading, this article said that “the average gross salary in the Republic of Serbia in January 2007 amounted to RSD 33,770, which is 18.63 percent less in comparison with the average gross salary in December 2006”.

”January's average net salary stood at RSD 24,122, 15 percent less in real terms than the average salary in December 2006.”

All I see is Less, and Less and with Infraction it is even Less than that!!! And did you read B92 article of “Investing in Serbia still risky?” Read it, it's a good article.

This clearly shows that the economy is being managed well, and that investor confidence is strong in the Serbian economy as shown by last years foreign investment figures.

With this knowledge more foreign investors will be attracted to Serbia resulting in more jobs and pay packets. With greater economic activity, it will be easier for the Government to repay it's foreign debts.

It may even be that after Serbia has repayed it's foreign debts, then the EU may want to resume SAA talks.
