who is the dreamer? and who is the pawn? :)

it´s slowly becoming a boring matter, explaining to all of you on and on, that is not only Russia that counts. you all seem to loose the grip on reality.
no consensus in the SC = no independence.
no consensus in the EU = no independence.

The present day UNSC is a relic of WW2.It is time to take in new members and do away with the veto. The peace and security of the world should not be held hostage to the whims of any ONE country. It is undemocratic and unworkable in the most critical situations.New permanent members should include BRAZIL representing South America.GERMANY and ITALY in Europe.INDIA,INDONESIA and JAPAN in Asia. EGYPT and NIGERIA in Africa.A simple majority vote on ANY issue should be the standard in order to prevent total gridlock by any one single country thinking largely only about its individual self-interest above that of the common good. With these 13 permanent members you have a MAJORITY of the world's population being permanently represented on the UNSC and all the important geopolitical, economic, religious and cultural centers of the world. My plan would create a truly effective international world order. The headquarters should be relocated to Vienna and the US should NOT be asked to contribute 25% of the budget. It is because the US contributes such a disproportionate amount of money that makes many American pundits view the UN as being there to do the bidding of the US and thus the UN NOT being as credible as it SHOULD be in the eyes of the other 96% of the world.Do not ask the US which only has 4% of the world's population to pay the bills and you will not have many Americans feeling a sense of special entitlements at the expense of others.Furthermore,Donald Trump can increase the value of the present value of the existing site if the UN relocates and thus bring in extra property tax money for the city of New York.It is high time to establish a 21st century world body with international law above that of individual state sovereignty.Having said all this I commend the UN for doing OUTSTANDING work in many OTHER areas but the security area has been lacking since the creation of the UN which can be obviously viewed by taking one look at all the wars that have transpired between nations of the world in the 20th century and the horrendously massive and needless loss of human life and physical destruction. The UN has my permission to call it the LUCIANO PLAN FOR A 21st CENTURY REAL WORLD ORDER.

I guess Beta should have looked into how many times a resolution disregarding UN charter and Helsinki act have ever even made it to the UN Security Council.

It is likely to never even make it to the security council without the obligation to 1244 regarding territorial integrity (as Wisner promised) unless of course the US & UK want to push something that is "futile and counterproductive" I guess this message was directed just as much to the US & UK as a signal to Serbia.

I am looking forward to the Talks next week and still hope that a real compromise will be seen as the best way forward.

So by the logic of this article, the 5 permanent members will use their veto when the resolution goes against their own interests, not the interests of the state or region in question. If China vetoed an extension of a UN presence in Macedonia on part of Skoplje's recognition of Taiwan, then obviously Russia or China will threaten to veto something on Kosovo if breakaway provinces in their own backyards will use this as a springboard for their own separatism.

Just goes to show you that the international forum is really nothing more than the tool of Great Powers. We really haven't changed much since the League of Nations.

I'd say Pristina should start lobbying more in Moscow than in Washington if it wants independence. Give Lukoil and Gazprom tax-free investment incentives in the region for 25 years, allow Russian companies to buy up firms, build a super colossal Russian Orthodox Church in Pristina for the 3 Russians living there, rename "Clinton Boulevard" "Putin Street". That should get the Russians to warm up to them more :)

Thanks for posting this. I hope the Serbian readers will get a better sense of reality.

The time of Mister Nyet is over, my friends.

Keep in might that Russia sees the world as a chess board. And those who think that Serbia is anything more than a pawn, are deeply mistaken.

As a supporter of Kosovo independence, I am hoping that Serbia relies only on the Russian veto ;)
