Had he authorized real bullets while non-lethal was an option, I would understand the resignation. But using a form of riot control universally labeled as non-lethal in a justifiable situation hardly justifies resignation. Did the protesters expect to run freely over the police and defensive structures?

@roy,

their motherland albania IS a failed state and international protectorate, actually now it´s a shooting & testing terrain for nato.

so where´s the optimism from, that a second albanian state on south-serbian soil would function?

I find this decision a ridicules play on politics. To make, expect the Police Commissioner to stand down on accountability, especially political accountability is the weakest and turn coat act I have ever seen.

Let me firstly declare that an investigation is not as of yet concluded, and a sacrificial lamb has been taken to the slaughter.

Is this democracy? Is this why we are here to help? It seems that we are all dispensable pawns. When will the Local Government take responsibility? Why has Rucker no backbone?

Personally I am appalled by the premature action, in fact, Rucker, get a spine and stand down yourself for being a aging weak mini dictator who decisions are based on a fear factor to take flack and ask the Local Government for accountability.

How the hell do you expect and support Kosovo’s independence with this pathetic action. It proves the UN have no faith in the Local Government to take action and administer action.

Even with Albin Kurti, no local prosecutor would touch the case and Int’s had to do it. This is not a Government that can lead, but one that can fail

Sincerely

More hypocrisy!

Did anyone from UNMIK resign after the Albanians went on their murderous rampage of Serbs in 2004? But, two violent protesters get hit with rubber bullets and everyone else is to blame. The two of them and Kurti were to blame! The appeasement to the Albanians needs to stop. Take it for what it's worth - You violently protest - you get shot! That's always been the motto of the US.
Lest we not forget the 1968 Democratic National Convention and the protest at Kent St. University.

Rücker did the right thing. Curtis was starting to act cocky as if he is above the law. The Kosovo interior Minister has resigned as well. Sounds to me like the International Institutions and Kosovo authorities are admitting responsibility, which in a way is a good thing. This should serve as a warning to others, especially Kosovo Police and UNMIK Police, that you don’t kill unarmed protesters just because they push police barricades. You cannot silence people anymore ala Milosevic ways. Not in Europe-Not anymore.

he is a professional police. but people should undertand that although the ideal use of rubber bullets and baton is not to hit in the head, during the chaotic situation after the tear gassing, protesters were seen either running low on the ground, some fell to the pavement thats why they were hit in the head. protesters were not standing straight up stationary so you can aim perfectly. they were down down low running in all directions. see the video???
