It is very clear and obvious form this statement that the continuing negotiations on the next ruling coalition are complex and delicate and it would appear that these negotiations could even be lengthy.

We should not be surprised or even concerned if a fresh election takes place. It could even be a good thing depending on the election results and if they match up with your own preference.

It is interesting to note that, because of Serbia's new Constitution, any disobedience to the UN Charter is to be viewed as treason, and treason has heavy penalties.

It is not an easy time for the MPs, and we should not be surprised if Serbia goes to a fresh election.

Victor and Miroslav,

No intention to try to dispute all you say, but:

- to say that Kostunica "is the only obstacle to Serbia's progress" is just a simplification that obstructs you to see all other obstacles, which are plenty in numbers. Think about the voting behaviour of pensioners, a very large group of voters. 70 % of them dream to live in past, and many of them actually do so. And only few of them want to admit that they were fucked and raped in that past. Yes, Kostunica is a problem, but nor the only, neither the biggest.
- Don't forget the Radical Party leaders. Were they in power, you would pray to have Kostunica. You surely remember what Radicals said about CEFTA deal that Kostunica's government signed (Radicals:"Kostunica destroys Serbian economy").
- To reserve the Prime Minister's post to Kostunica only helps him to avoid taking a clear stand about direction, forwards with DS and co., or back to self-abusing arrogance and denial with Radicals (and Socialists).
- Bojan Kostreš and some other Vojvodina politicians would make less noise about the Vojvodina's autonomy were the government politics more open, courageous and efficient, and less as just petty gambling
- Serbia needs people with new initiatives, memories of great Tesla won't help; it's useless to ride on a dead horse

According to my factbook Voivodina has a population of 2 million with 70% being ethnic Serb. This Kostres gentleman is ethnic Hungarian of which only 290k(15%) still live in Voivodina. It is good to see that a member of this small minority group has equal rights to speak his mind in the new democratic Serbia even if what he says is silly.

how about the government keeps Kostunica as prime minister and doesn't have Bojan Kostreš? That sounds a lot better than the other way around.

Ok. So let's say the Democratic Bloc does not include Kostunica. Then what, they lose all chances of forming a government and then the radicals will form a coalition government with DSS. This man is an idiot who has lost touch with reality, no matter how bad Kostunica is he's still better for Serbia then having the radicals in power and a man who constantly argues for autonomy for Vojvodina should know this.

Olli, Kostunica is not a democrat. He wants to be a
democrat and a nationalist - possible in the more developed world,
but difficult in polarized Serbia. The world's most wanted war-crimes suspect, Mladic remains free.
He is the only obstacle to Serbia's progress from the hole in which the world dropped it during the 1990s

«Vojvodina Assembly President Bojan Kostreš says no room should be made in the new government for Koštunica and the DSS.»

It is the first time I agree with a Serb. I, too, think that Kostunica is too close to Milosevic's policies. He is a danger for Serbia. He is the one who protected Mladic for years.

Yes, it's both stupid and dangerous to consider Kostunica as the main man of Serbia's politics. Some people in their comments here write of Kostunica as the one and only who can deal for example about Kosovo. That's a big load of BS. A democracy cannot cling to one man/woman.
I am not saying that Kostunica hasn't achieved anything worth mentioning with his right hand. The problem is his malfunctioning left hand.
