If Serb’s doesn’t like the Word Kosova, believe to us that Albanians doesn’t like ether the same day when we are recognized as a country from USA and UK the name will be changed in DARDANIA.

@ what does KOCOBO mean?Can someone explain? :)(dutch, 21 January 2007, 00:00)

Kosovo (Serbian Cyrillic: Косово и Метохија or Kosovo i Metohija, also Космет or Kosmet

Not Kosova!!

A few points to note:

1. CoE (currently dominated by UK) has no clout as far as Kosovo status is concerned. The status must be approved by UN SC.

2. "Indpendence for peace" -- well, it depends on which place you are talking about. Peace in most of Kosovo -- yes. But not in North Kosovo. Maybe not in Srpska and Belgrade too. I predict this will result ultimately in North Kosovo declaring itself part of Serbia.

Sava,

Regardless how long has Kosovo i Metohia been Serbia's heartland, the reality on the ground is different today. All you have to do is come to my home, see who are 99% of my neighbors and then you'll understand that Kosovo i Metohia from Kostunica's point of view is a romantic ilusion. If there is some sort of independence, it has to be equally and garanted for all the citizens of Kosmet.

The time has come for Kosmet Serbs to get the best possible deal out of this Independence. If Belgrade doesn't negociate openminded after the proposal, most of the Serbs will leave, and the Kosmet you are talking about, will indeed become a myth in historical books.

Let's look at the bright side, only UN security and financial garanties will keep
Kosmet Serbs on the ground. Serbia hasn't been able to deliver that in spite of the war, and I hope now you understand my grief.

And finally, We Kosmet Serbs ought to be allowed to negociate independently if Belgrade is not capable of securing our needs peacefully and in a civilized manner.

We need peace and security garanties not new violence as some of you are suggesting from both sides.

I see all the crack armchair political analysts are working overtime this weekend.

Princip: Recall if you will, it was the Serbs who asked Ahtisaari to delay his report till after the elections. Now you're
accusing him of trying to sabbotage the election in favor of the Radicals. You are never happy in spite of everything the UN is doing to help the Serbs.

Blag: I see you're threatening the Kosovars again with the "messy" problems to be created the Serbs. Remember, INAT is bad for your Karma! I recall you making threats back in 1998-1999. You said if NATO bombed Serbia then the rath of Russia would come down on NATO and things would get very "messy" for the West.
Well, the only thing that got messy was Serbia after NATO did a little humanitarian bombing.

I notice that no one commented on German Chancellor Angela Merkel's statement. She said that the EU wanted the outcome of status resolution for Kosova to have maximum satisfaction for the Albanians and at least no turbulance=tantrums from the Serbs. I wonder what she meant by that?

Ekrem

pre 17 godina

Sava: Velika Serbia has died with your big daddy Milosevic in prison. Too bad for you and some of your friends who live dreaming and believing in myths that never existed.
Kosova (like it or not) will be the newest country in Europe and you will soon need a visa to enter it.

Independence for peace.

That's the only way out for the Serbs. All other alternative would conduct to war. And as I have often written: no Albanians want to share a piece of land with those who massacred 10 000 of their civilans in 78 days!.

Independence and pace at last!

item 33 says kosovo has economic potential inone area... and bases it's sole viability on the mining sector's "realtively cheap transport costs."

what a preposterous excuse for a country?! it expects low transport costs (to make it competitive) from the very same people they racistly despise.

a very intersting concept by Rapporteur, Lord Russell-Johnston (presumably speaking on behalf of his governemt in london).

i wonder what if that relatively cheap method of transport suddenly became very expensive -- or blocked (which it will should a solution be imposed). the drunken drive to indep will meet with some sobering concepts. the fat lady has not yet even begun to sing.

Sava

sorry albanians, but Tito is long gone, Srpsko kocobo is a fact! Your made up history of Kocobo being albanian is fiction! Believe that NO Serb will let Kocobo go! Its been in the heart of Serbs for hundreds of years, regardless of what Tito did to destroy our history. And please refrain from using the name "kosova", because that is a non-existant word. Zivela Srbija i Srpsko KOCOBO

blag

there is one other concept we should bring out into the open:

kosovo gets put on the road toward conditional independence and after 10-15 years it can't get over the hump and fails due to lack of viability. what then? frankly i think there is a fair chance this may actually happen. would it then merge with albania??

blag

pre 17 godina

let us kindly see the legal mechanism to do this. everything that i see is insisting that serbia accept the inevitable (because there is no legal mechanism). serbia obviously won't so accept it... so let's see how they're gonna do it. whatever way they do it is gonna be messy.

blag

lets stick with what we know and not predict nonsense based on emotions. it's obvious a document will go to the UN and that document will be discussed and adjusted. i doubt ti will be adjusted toward more indep... so one can only guess it will be adjusted the other way. if its not adjusted it gets a veto. and if the veto is bypassed it sets into motion a whole series of severe consequences that i have documented many times. those consequences be detrimental and will only lead to a palestine-like scenario... and a measly manner of economic existence for kosovo albanians as the reality of serbia's cold shoulder sets in (prolonged legal challenge, economic blockade/ embargo, slow motion partition). this drunken drive to indep thinks serbia (the very nation it needs for its survival) will be a nice neighbor.

Princip pls stop dreaming and accept the reality. You only have to read the title to know the outcome of resolution, read on... 4. While respecting Serbia’s interest and right to preserve its territorial integrity, the Assembly believes that Kosovo’s independence – subject to certain conditions - is the solution which is liable to ensure the greatest chances of durable, long-term peace and stability for Kosovo and the entire region, in addition to being the one which corresponds to the will of the majority of Kosovars. The Assembly therefore encourages Serbia to adopt a more flexible and pragmatic attitude during the status negotiations, as well as to reopen a discussion within Serbia’s main institutions to that effect.

Thanks, Tony UK

Princip, Uk

pre 17 godina

Arben it also says in the summary;

"Regardless of the outcome on the status of Kosovo, whether it be increased autonomy within Serbia or independence"

- so please read fullly and understand that negotiations following the "Draft" proposal will take place and lets just see what will happen in the next year of talks, talks, talks and more talks!!!

Princip, Uk

pre 17 godina

Looking through it again it is like I said old news;

"Doc. 11018
18 September 2006"

and so like I said you must question not the content but the timing of this subject and the fact that Athisarri will be meeting to discuss it on the 24th - but then I guess some are more paniced then others and lets see how the talks, talks, talks will go on this year!

Princip, UK

pre 17 godina

No The fat lady has not sung, this is more of the same that Serbia has already said it will not accept. read the full text - the lady will sing only when it reaches UN security council and not before. to enlighten you:

"52. In the case that a negotiated solution is not possible, would it be conceivable for the international community to impose a solution? This is a painful question which needs to be asked. Personally, I am convinced that a negotiated solution should be sought, and should be reached within a reasonable time-frame, which means by the end of this year. However, should a deadlock protract negotiations beyond a reasonable time-frame, thus perpetuating insecurity and instability and rendering a normalisation of the lives of people in Kosovo impossible, it might be necessary to envisage the eventuality of an internationally-imposed solution as the last and extreme resort."

- Painful for who indeed!!!

So more talks that can go on for another year at least!! Remeber this is the starting point of the talks and it is clear that Sediju and Ceku can't appreciate the term negotiations - looks like the Serbs will be negotiating with Athisarri et al as they can't comprehend - does not say much about the future governance if you did get what you wished for as it would seem that the viability is in question politically let alone economically.

As a side, I wonder about the timing of this and really I am fairly outraged as this is a spoiler to get the radical vote in if you ask me so that they can walk away and blame the Serbs. It is clear that Athisarri is behind this - so much for not wanting to meddle in Serbian politics and whats more someone must be desperate to get this done so rapidly given that they still have uncertainty about the 26th Jan.

Roll on April whn the talks can start and then lets see what happens as they protracted and become painful!!! Zivela Srbija.
