Vojvodina to set up office in Brussels

i write this to head off the anticipated albanian posts who will use this to bolster their own cause.

FACT: Vojvodina is nearly 70% ethnic serb (look it up). There was a time when it was majority hungarian but that has ended. nevertheless there are still successionist forces there... hence this nonsense.

Nice to read the comment of blag where he confirms that Hungarians had the majority in Vojvodina but after a successful ethnic cleansing campaign they now have been reduced to a minority by the Serbs. Something like this will never happen in Kosovo I think.

Soon I will quit to write here since there are too much hate and people are very intolerant especially some of the Serbs. The worst is that many of them do not consider human beings other nationalities than Serbs.

Voivodina is about 8k sq.mi with a population of 2m majority of them Serbs.What are 300k Hungarians still doing living there considering Hungary's GNP and Per Capita are twice as high as Serbia's.Is it mainly old people who do not want to emmigrate to Hungary?Maybe blag can tell me.Secessionist forces are at work in many places but how many countries is one ethnic group entitled to?

Until WW2 Serbs made 1/3 population of Vojvodina,1/3 were Germans and 1/3 Hungarians.After WW2 Germans were deported back to Germany cause most of them collaborated with the Nazis during occupation and they even formed their own SS division "Prinz Eugen".Number of Hungarians diminished during the decades after,most of them emmigrated to Hungary and today those who remained are mostly old people, you are right Luciano.After the WW2 LOTS of Serbs from poor parts of Bosnia and Croatia were colonized to Vojvodina,now Serbs make there about 70% of the population so Vojvodina can not be nothing more now then just northern part of Serbia.End of story

I don't think Hungarians have ever made up 50%+ of Vojvodina's population in the past few hundred years. The population of Hungarians in Vojvodina has declined steadily since 1961:

1961 442,560 23.9%
1971 423,866 21.7%
1981 385,356 18.9%
1991 340,946 16.9%
2002 290,207 14.3%

Wikipedia is a good source of information and it explains that over the centuries the populations of all the ethnic groups has fluxuated with who was in control etc.
