It is sort of ironic that the Slovenian is in Belgrade in 2007 still talking about an issue(Kosovo)which the Slovenians wanted to wash their hands of back in 1991 when they seceded from Yugoslavia. It is funny how some things just continue on and on and on in the Balkans.BUT Serbia has a lot to gain from Slovenia's impressive economic performance and the Slovenian work ethic should inspire the Serbs to increase their effort tenfold in order to take their rightful place in the economic life of this region.

Yes. Rupel has been rather vocal on his opinions with regard to Kosovo. So why is he in Belgrade.

The Slovenian government seems to want to be a 'leading light' and offer help to the region but this is at odds with its politics.

After all, one of the reasons that the Slovenes wanted to leave the SFRY was because they would be richer without having to subsidise others, for example Kosovo, which has been fed billions of dollars of IMF funds over the decades.

Fine words from the Slovenes, but none of their money. Plus ca change.

Rupel's stand on issue of Kosovas status is well known long ago. He well tell Belgrade that his stance has not changed at all.
