"Unilateral Independance"

Northern Cyprus tried that route after illegally invading Cyprus through their American proxies in 1974. Look where they stand now, to put it bluntly, an Economic basket case. Only Turkey recognized Northern Cyprus .

Northern Cyprus will never be a member of the EU without the proper negotiation with Cyprus.

Kosovo will never become independant without the signatory of Serbia. UN resolution 1244 is the only document that was signed by Serbia in good faith with full guarantor of territorial integrity of Kosovo.

The document presented by the contact group must be approved by both sides not unilaterally or independantly by one side.

So the question will be , which Serbia politican will dare sign away Kosovo?

Xhafer,

Princip,

You've been eternally talking of a win win solution? Your win win solution is filled with thirst of nostagia for Milosevic days. I don't know whether you do that because of your total ignorance of the situation on the ground or you do it just to piss off Albanians in general.

Whichever way it may be, Albanians will never go back to those days and you, Blag, and your inspirational leader Kostunica can do nothing about it.

Albanians will follow the proces to wash their hands with international community, and even may accept a few weeks of negociations with Serbia about Kosovo Serb rights and their participation in its institution, but a unilateral declaration of independence is certainly in the hearts of 98% of Albanian Kosovars.

As you can see we have a back up plan, What's yours on the eve of unilateral declaration of independence?

In fact, the only ones that are going on with this UN game are Sejdiu, Cheku whom you and Blag happended to resent a lot.

It is interesting to read so many comments when the reality starts to kick in that Athisarri is now going to present his "DRAFT" and following that there will be negotiations, beyond which there will be a solution that will inevitably be a win-win as it is acceptable to all parties, which will be alllowed and passed by the UN Secirity council. How long the process takes is not yet determinable since that is the nature of negotiations so hopefully a compromised solution will be come about probably later in 2007 but certaint not in January as we can see. Is this not what I have been saying all along!! But that is the way diplomacy works and it is exactly why there has been no independence nor could there be 2 Albania's enen in 99,00,01,02,03,04, 05,06 and now even in 07. So realise this and let the talks begin and get real about the future in partnership and understanding so that the future can be better for all in Serbia. I live in the UK and like Tony Blair recently commented on ethnic citizens conform to the host society & respect it and do not instigate a seperatist junta to wrench away 15% of the UK's territory.

Like it or not, Kosova will get her independence. We all heard about Ahtisari's most probable solution "Supervised independence", which shall be accepted by KOSOVARS, of course. Its like a new baby
( KOSOVA) is born and it needs supervision to start walking , after a couple of years it will start running far , far away from Serbia, direction known- EU integration. And , Princip you can keep your dreams about KiM,sacramental wars and places,sovereignity,tito,25 Maj,etc because very soon one day you will wake up in the worst nightmare.

If there is a
"Kosovars will just go ahead with a unilateral independence declaration even if it means becoming another Taiwan". Another Taiwan AC? I don't think kosovo has the capacity to export goods and service as does taiwan. I don't you should compare kosovo to taiwan. All this would do is black ball kosovo and you think it is hard now it would 10 times as worse. Next step invited the Arab league to help kosovo then you must help the league when asked. Also i hope that the muslims of kosovo are ready to conform to strict islamic laws. Now you are really talking about human rights there will be none and the people will be feed up and cry from help from the west to rid them of the islamist. So to declare independence and expect the west backing not going to happen. I think President Sejdiu needs to rethink dealing with the Arab league. The two groups of interest needs to compromise and settle this.

I admire Princip and Blag for being so positive about the outcome and reminding us about their win win solution. Before I go just a little reminder to you two, Serbia has lost Kosova in 1999.Now we have to find a solution which is the best for Kosovan People no matter nationality, religion, etc. If UN or EU stays there forever it is much better then previous goverment which committed genocide on his own citizens. When you analize more what really caused this situation in Kosova then you can tell us about your win win solution which I think will never be!!!Cheerio.

If you two think that the Albanains will EVER accept anything Serbian, you are even more naive than what you appear on your daily posts. It is obvious that every single indicator points to the end of Serbian sovreignty on paper really really soon. That is the reason why they are waiting until after the elections to say so. You keep hanging on to words out of context and choose to burry your heads in the sand. Whatever makes you feel better I say.

You must learn at least one fact, we will never consider Serbia as our home we are different nations we have different view and there is naturally impossible to keep Kosovars together with Serbs. However i am sure that we will gain independence, but i feel sorry for you for your medieval ideas and for your cynicism. I hope as time goes on you have to try to convince yourself with this new reality because its in your good.

nice to have princip back.

as i have written many times... unilateral recognition carries seriuous consequences:

reciprocal indep declaration from mitrovica leading to partition; blocked thrufare to rail/ road/ river; a belligerant serbia; rasicalization of the serb population of kosovo who will become increasing vocal; protest; demonstrate about lack of rights; etc, etc. all of which is bad press.

the independence campaign has been really mis-managed by pristina and it's lovers. what was once a foregone conclusion is now...

I doubt that the majority ethnic Albanians hold your views and in the coming months will make their voice more vocal that they want jobs and a better future - none of which will happen by unilateral actions that you suggest. Realise your future and start working together in partnership for a better Serbia for all. All the peoples of Serbia have it in their hands for a better future - this is not my dream but a possible future - what you offer as an alternative will be a nightmare scenario for a divided Kosovo & Metohija and a disaster for the economic, social and political future of the southern part of Kosovo & Metohija.

"complete the solution DRAFT before the Serbian elections and that Ahtisaari is due to present this document to authorities in Belgrade and Pristina" So the "Proposal" will not be finalised when it is presented and no date has been set as to when comments need to be made.- the DRAFT will be presented!!! So now we find that the "proposal" is in fact a "Draft" intriguing indeed. Looks like so much is now open for discussion and the sooner the US tells the ethnic Albanians that they promised something they had no authority of promising the sooner all the peoples of Serbia can move forward and make a better place for all.

Ethnic Albanians need to accept that autonomy is the best solution and start working for a better Serbia for all it's people. Negotiating the terms of autonomy will be a way to ensure your rights as fellow humans and only working in partnership can all become prosperous.

Roll on 2007 let the talks begin though when they finish is anyones guess.
