Definition of "RAPE"

The cleansing of over 200,000 Serbs from Kosovo with no safe guarantees of return.

The cleansing of over 600,000 Serbs from the Krajina region of Croatia with no timetable for return.

The Cleansing of Serbs from Mostar & Sarajevo, where there where close to 30% of the population was Serb, now, less than 5% .

Just who is raping who?

The attempt to create another phantom country out of Kosovo-Metoxia.

Xhafer,

Guys! Can't you see how much Serbian politicians are fearing these days.

Their Anti-Kosovo propaganda has hit the all time high.

Nobody has to tell us that Kosovo in less than six weeks will be independent. Their fear is confirming it better than Ahtisari's leaks to the media.

Seems to me the definition of the minister holds:
Rape: The act of seizing and carrying off by force.
The West is seizing Kosovo from Serbia and carrying it off by force.

I will add another:
Theft: To take (the property of another) without right or permission.
The West is taking Kosovo (owned by Serbia) without right or permission.

If they want it, they're going to have to pay a steep price to get the signature on the piece of paper. There's a lot of backroom bargaining yet to be conducted.

"No nation in history have ever had a "clean" divorce..."

Sure they are technically one state, but do not for one second be fooled into thinking that Serbia and Kosovo consist of one nation. Serbia has made it very clear that the content of the Serbian nation is strictly Orthodox and Serb. They created this mess.

As for Popovic, perhaps he is confused on the definition of rape. Kosovo independence is inevitable justice; Rape is what the Serb military did in the Balkans throughout the 90s.

Why couldn't "socialist" Yugoslavia make Kosova a republic? Exactly because it would give the Albanians the right to leave the federation, if they wanted, since it was founded on the presumption that it was a voluntary union.
That's also why Serbs leave Montenegrins in peace now. And that's why they should have left Croats and Bosnians in peace in the 90's. Serbia should have negotiated to protect the Serbs. Instead there was war.

Serbia DID appologise for Milosevic policies in the past. They even sent him to Hauge where he died before trial. As to comments about 800,000 kosovars ethnically cleansed from Kosovo, those were from NATO bombs. Who in their right mind would stay around with Bombes falling over their heads. Serb army was in Kosovo before when Albanians were living there but only family of KLA soilders ran away once Serb forces started hunting down killers of policemen & civilians. As for the 800,000 Albanians all came back home once the bombing stopped. What about the 200,000 serbs who were cleansed out of Kosovo and still aren't allowed back 7 years later!? So who ethnically cleansed who? Kosovo is 99% Albanian. Serbia is the most ethnically diverse country in all of the Balkans. Don't fool yourselves. Anyone who knows anything about the region knows what Albanians are all about. Ethnically pure Greater Albania. Too bad you will never get it.

The international community is already raping the natural resources of Kosovo.

Albanians should be just as upset as the Serbs about the selling off of Kosovo's rich mineral deposits to international interests to "pay" Milosevic's "debts".

The International Community are not your friends. Their misguided policies only served to make the situation worse in the Balkans.

Serbia is struggling with the crimes committed in the name of their people, and many politicians in Serbia have acknoledged these crimes. Our leaders take the terrible crimes of Srebinica seriously. Did not representatives of our government go to Bosnia to attend memorial services for those killed in that horrible slaughter?

The Serbian government have accepted responsibility for the crimes committed in their name far more then the other players in the wars. Can you imagine if Serbia celebrated Srebinica as a national holiday like the Croatians do with Operation Storm?

Its not all black and white, crimes were committed by all sides. Condemning only one side is not constructive for the area.

And to Mr. Brazilian Guy, I suggest you do a little current research on your comments. They investigated the allegations of systematic rape camps and discovered there was no basis for the claims of 50.000 people being raped in Bosnia. Yes, rapes occured and even one rape is too many. However, repeating propaganda lies AFTER they've been disproved does not lend validity to your statements.

Seriously, what do you people want from Serbs? They have apologized, they sent Milosevic, the worst criminal in the war, to the Hague. We suffered sanctions, economic collaspe, bombing, being completely ethnically cleansed out of Croatia and the general demonization of our people and our country.

Even the Nazi's weren't demonized this long, and they committed the worst crimes of almost any war. The crimes of the Serbs just do not compare.

Seriously, what would make you all happy? What would satisfy you? I already agree that Mladic should go to the Hague, but I also think Milosevic was a far worse criminal and was a more important player to send. I guess its impossible to atone for these crimes. If that is true, its only going to strengthen the radicals of Serbia. No one wants that. At some point, we need to stop pointing fingers, and try to find a way at reconciliation.

Matthew

Plenty of moderate Serbians condemn the type of crimes that occured in their names in Kosovo. B92 did their best to bring the truth to the Serbian people as the only free press in Serbia. There are heroes and villains on both sides.

I strongly condemn violence as a solution for the regional problems.

However as a Serb, I can tell you we feel the same as you, that Albanians haven't come out strongly enough to condemn the ethnic cleansing that occured after the NATO bombing or the destruction of our heritage and culture during the 2004 riots.

We all need to accept responsibility for our actions if we are to end the cycle of violence.

We need to stop pointing fingers at each other, and start thinking about what we as individuals can do to make the situation calmer, not more extreme. Please think about your comments.

I hate to point this out, but the propaganda is coming from both sides. "Raping of Serbia, "Cleansing of Albanians," both sides are appropriating words in an emotional appeal for their own purpose. Both sides are wrong, the Serbs prior to international intervention and Kosovo-Albanians after intervention. Both are screwing the minority population. Both sides are radical.

Once again the science & environment minister making "emotional" appeals. Why is this guy always making such statements? Shouldn't he be preoccupied with running the Serbian Academy of Science in their quest to develop the latest plans of cleansing Kosovo from its Albanian population? Does the name Vaso Čubrilović ring any bells? Here it is in case all you Serbs conveniently forgot. http://aacl.com/expulsion2.html

So Mr. Popovic, go write a new edition of that and quit trying to make us feel sorry for you!

" Why he does not think about getting a clean divorce just like Chech and Slovak republics, thats more likely."

Because thats 2 republics, whilst Kosovo is not. No nation in history have ever had a "clean" divorce with a national territory. I dont think Serbia will be the first one.

"Does this guy named Popovic knows the definition of "RAPE", I don't think he has a clue."

I dont think you understand that this site translates what was said in serbian to english. And "rape" have many meanings in serbian language like violence, assault or ravishment.

And i dont see his choice of words as wrong when describing what taking Kosovo from Serbia would be like.

It's funny how Serbian goverment comes up with these touching claims and almost makes you feel sorry for them, but when you think about it throughly and there is yet no official appology on behalf of the serbian people by the serbian government about the attrocities their state has commited during the Yugoslavia wars, it makes you realize how serbian style of politics has not evolved at all, and is just as radical and extreme as their predecessors.

I for one dont understand how Europe is "raping" Serbia. It wasnt Europe who cleansened 1 million albanians out of their homes and killed tens of thousands.

When you guys are ready to take responsibility for your actions thats when your country will develope.

Good luck toyou all.
