So what Kazimir? Yeah,Serbia will be in NATO one day cause Serbia needs very pragmatic foreign policy,no emotions at all. World changes...you are Polish i suppose? Why are you together with Germany in EU and NATO after what Germans did to you and Warsaw in 1939 and during occupation, huh?

Agim is absolutely right on this one ! It was the NATO that bombed the bejesus out of Serbia. Now Serbia wants to marry the NATO...

There will always be those who are against anything that they cannot have apparently Agim believes that Serbia sold out, wrong Agim they have realized that there are countries who want to work together with Serbia to become a better world partner instead of keeping their head in the sand and not realizing the world is changing and with world change all must change or you will be left in the dark like Kosovo if they don't wake up and smell the coffee.

John's comments are right on the money. Serbia should condition its acceptance of joining PfP with a guarantee that Kosovo remain part of Serbia.

Same cast of characters always posting to this site. It's gross. We are constantly bombarded by propaganda (both albanian AND serbian), strange serb reasonings, myths of albanian righteousness and a strange and arrogant approach to history, and on and on.

B92, you should get rid of this comment section. I think that any normal, objective individual reading this will have their brains melt out of their ears.

John,

Nice theory about Russia. Unfortunately based on wrong assumptions: do you realise that Russia (and about all of the former USSR countries) is already a member of the PfP...
So why would it bother them?

I read both the article and your "interpretation" of it Agim, and I found no parallels between Kostunica's statement and Kosovo. Two people have already told you Serbia of 2006 is far different from 1999, so there's no need for me to add to the chorus. Try giving your Serb comrades a little more credit. You'll have to deal with them as neighbors in some capacity or another real soon.

My on PfP is really negative. First, I think NATO is using this PfP acceptance as a play to ensure that there is no conflict when they declare Kosovo independent. The question will be, how could a new member attack its coalition members? Second, this really distances the Serbs from the Russians as the Ruski's do not want any further NATO or PfP expansion, especially where they feel they have geo-political influence. This move by NATO/Serbia could push Russia to withhold their veto on Kosovo's independence.

Perhaps, this move will garner more concessions to the Serbian negotiating team, but overall I feel that Washington and Brussels just check-mated the Serbs.

There is no doubt that Serbia has changed in last 7 years. From my point of view, joining in partnership is some kind of compensation for final results of negotiation. This is just a phase in process so called EU integration. However, Serbs are far more capable in order of democratic potential, key role in the Balkans than Albanians from longterm aspect... and this is true and nothing that the true. Fact and acsiom, as well.

My dear Agim, you must realise that 7 years have passed since 1999. There is a famous british political quote

"A week is a long time in politics"
- Harold Wilson, Lord Riveaulx.

The geopolitical and that of the economic can change greatly in a week let alone 7 years.

Koštunica is highlighting what he believes will be the implication for Serbia today and tomorrow and I am inclined to believe this stance.

Serbia as a nation has changed in the last 7 years and many things in the world have change too. Koštunica has nothing to be ashamed of nor do other politicians who currently govern Serbia. Talking of politicians who should be ashamed, maybe you still idolize Blair for his stance but I think you will find that he is a politician who has much to be ashamed of and at the top of that shame list is his complicity in the illegal bombardment of a sovereign nation - Serbia & Crnogora - not merely Iraq.

The sooner all peoples of Serbia start working towards a better future for all the sooner all will benefit. I look forward to 2007 and the talks which will start in February/March that will benefit all the peoples of Serbia. Maybe if the win-win solution comes about for Kosovo & Metohija in 2007 it could be that many obstacles to NATO and EU will dissolve further and 2008 will be an an even better year.

My interpretation of Koshtunica's coments is that by having Serbia join stabilisation partenership for peace, will strengthen Serbia's position in regard to Kosova, right. Absolutaly not, and NATO was the one that bombed Serbia. Serb politicians ahve no shame whatsoever.
