To Sidi: Excuse me, but legality has EVERYTHING to do with it since the "victors" aren't making the decision but the security council. any attempt to byass legality will unravel a number of nation states (and the independence of Kosovo is not worth that)

Hey Noel,

Your comment is inconsistent with a recent call for Blair's resignation by your parliament. I seem to remember a fury over when he plans to quit. This certainly doesn't sound like 'full support of the majority' to me.

cheers.

To the guy who wants the LEGAL MECHANISM:

Legality is determined by the victorious; If 90% of the international community decide to unilateraly reckognize Kosovo as an independent state, and if the NATO structures guarantee its security, THERE IS NOTHING ON THIS BLESSED PLANET that either Kostunica can do, but go around waving papers in the air. Do you think anyone will bother to show a failed nationalist like him a legality which he fails to see anyhow? Get a grip!

If you follow the everyday developments related to Kosovo Statute talks, and you also read international press, but also pay very good attention on what have been said in different high decision making institution in the world, you will get the answer on your own question. My comments are fact based, and i also know that most of people in Serbia are tired with false Government promises, let me recall a “sram vas bilo” (shame on you) camping organized by ….in streets of Belgrade just couple weeks ago. Allow me also to remind you the fact that Tony Blair is British Prime minister and some of us can not say that ” his decisions does not represent the country he is representing”. Kosovo is very close to successfully ending it’s long journey towards becoming a newest state in South East Europe. I think very soon we will have international recognition of Kosovo as an independent country, by the states that has been playing supportive role towards peacekeeping in Kosovo. Serbia will not like this (of course) but you can feel it in the air that Serbian politicians are fighting for their future political carrier, rather than trying to overrule something that they know will never happened again

I am surprised that as an Mancunian you refer to Kosovo as a Kosovo and Metohija!Nobody outside Serbia doesn't use the word Metohija which was added from patriotic reasons,as for British People you are so wrong. After the war in 1999 the British were the first to help Kosovan Albanians. But for you it is difficult to accept that the country you were born in is helping Kosovan People.I don't understand why you don't go and live in Serbia if you feel so patriotic about your country. Please Anthony,if you reply to this don't start giving me facts and figures and don't tell me about albanians in England, what I really would like to do is to have a normal chat with you guys over a drink and as a young generations to find a solution that all kosovan people to have a reasonable life and I would like to stop the hatred between us.If you come down to London give me a call and we can chat and maybe have a drink or two.Cheers.

To our Balkan brothers, the Kosovars,

Why can't we compromise and find a solution that benefits the entire region as a whole?

I suggest, those areas in Kosovo with a majority Serbian population and/or with a strong religious/historical importance be allowed to remain a part of Serbia. In exchange, Serbia should give Albania/Kosovo land that is greater than or equal in importance and value, such as those areas with a strong Albanian population or land with a strong strategic economic value. That is a true compromise and it deals with the needs of ALL Albanians in Serbia while preserving a Serbian presence in those areas we consider most Holy.

In addition, Albania and Serbia could then support each other in the peaceful promotion of the right to self determination for our populations in Macedonia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Croatia. This would show the international community that the Serbian and Albanian governments have the maturity to work together and compromise.

The international community, and the EU in particular, should then deal with the Balkans as a whole in EU status discussions. If the countries of this region can work together to find a solution to their population problems, then the EU should back a fast track approach for the entire region to join the EU. This would have the effect of promoting cooperation in the region and give the people something to work together on. This approach would help to facilitate economic growth and trade amongst this troubled region, where many of the economic and infrastructure problems are related.

How can the people of the Balkans live in harmony in the EU when they don't even see one another as brothers? If all these countries want to join the EU, then why does it really matter what country you "officially" belong to? I live in California, but it doesn't make a bit of difference to me whether where I live is a part of California, or Nevada, or New Mexico or any other State in the US. The EU will be exactly the same in the future. None of this will matter 50 or 100 years from now.

As long as the albanian leaders continue to use nationalism to avoid taking responsibility for their own failures/promises and blame the serbs for all their ills, then Kosovo will never be 'solved'.

Who will they blame next? The EU? US? who will have to make continued heavy subsidies so that Kosovo doesn't implode.

Stop moaning and clean your own house, or Kosovo WILL just remain a lawless black hole there is no rule of law and where anything goes.

One must LEGALLY take away Kosovo. This is the West's dilemma. Words like "lost it" or "forfeited the right" mean nothing. Kostunica's comments still stand: Show me the LEGAL MECHANSIM to take it away. Finally... "What can be delayed can also be defeated"

I think Kosovo lives in Serbs dreams as myth, but not as reality, Serbia had no claim over Kosovo for last 7 years and now it's time to blame the others for losing it.Along with England there will be many other countries that will recognise Kosovas Independece, including Serbia one day. England have send several clear signals to Serbia" You lost it" so don't see room for comments anymore.
