Russia is also in the Contact Group. They don't seem to be supporting Kosovo independence. Otherwise I am sure the Contact Group would have issued a clear statement about Kosovo by now. The fact that they have not yet done so probably indicates a lack of consensus about this issue. In any case, it is the UN Security Council that will ultimately decide Kosovo's fate, not the Contact Group.

CG is firm on its stance that some type/form of Independence is a must for Kosovo/a, but in no way it will be part of Serbia proper. I hope all parties involved got ther message and specially Serbian politicians. There is no doubts in my mind that Kosovo/a will be new country in Europe.
