I think you have to think of the practicalities of including the Kosovo Albanians on the voter list. First of all they would have to either register to vote or Serbia could used the UN or OSCE voter list for Kosovo which would require permission. Then the next step would be who would run the polling stations in Kosovo and how would that be expected to happen without any violence.

Dear Svojgazda,

The will of Kosovo population was known long before KLA was formed. Kosovo Albanians tried peacefully to convey their message many times, but it fell into the deaf ear. KLA was the last alternative, and you may be right up to a point. There may be some criminal elements in KLA, and those elements should be eradicated from the public life. However, 10 thousand former KLA members do not represent 2 million Albanians and their present will. If it were for KLA, they wouldn't even participate in the talks with Belgrade. It's the everyday people who want independence as I see. We all know that inspite of their claiming to have liberated Kosovo, there is actually little truth to it. Their effectiveness against Serbian Army then was very slight. So. It's Bill Clinton who liberated Kosovo and we are very thankful to him for that, but also feel sad for all the civilians who had to die in Kosovo and Serbia thanks to Mr. Milosevic. So, to conclude, the KLA members who wish to peacefully contribute in a new country, are welcome. But the troublemakers, you know where they end up. Because we Kosovars of the young generation want nothing but democracy and freedom for every citizen whether it be Albanian, Serb, Roma, or Turks.

As far as Albanians killed by KLA. A number of KLA fighters have been arrested, and day by day is being shed light into the crimes committed by them and by all sides.

"A Criminal has no nationality", wouldn't you agree?

It's up to the decent people whether they happened to be Albanian or Serbians to point a finger to a criminal even when it happened to be one of their own.

For me it would be interesting to know WHY the Albanians were excluded from the voter list. Is it because the Serbian government is afraid that despite the assumption that Albanians will boycott the referendum, Albanians might vote after all and might influence the outcome of the referendum? And how can Serbia seriously keep declaring that Kosova is an integral part of Serbia and then deny its inhabitants the right to vote on the Serbian constitution? Or has everything just been a big misunderstanding and they accept independence of Kosova after all?

Whilst personally I do not give much credence to any 'news' originating from Beta, but on the assumption that Goati's comments as given are accurate he is absolutly right in his oppinion. It is sad Serbia is mirroring Montenegro who simply 'errased' huge numbers of their citizens living in Serbia in order to achieve Djukanovic's objectives. Regretfully in the new world order as dictated by the US and their followers whose duplicity and hypocrisy time and time again overrride established international laws and principles - Serbia has no chance of a fair and objective hearing and any 'wrong messages' will be exploited to its detriment. Serbia had put its faith in 'practical' reasons. Namely that Kosovo and Metohija is acknowledged as part of her sovereign territory as per UN resolution 1244. I haven't heard, and i myslef haven't hid behind, 'emotional' arguements such as religious importance, Vidovdan 1389 or 'Osvecno Kosovo'.

Serbia has argued with a naive belief that as international law is on her side that she cannot lose Kosovo and Metohija.... she is wrong. International law means nothing to world bullies and separatists funded by drug and human trafficking.

What about all the Albaniacs killed by their own KLA, thaqt didn't go along with them? Why is that never mentioned by pro-independence Kosovars? Would it maybe make the Pristina government look bad?

So in other words, Serbia wants Kosovo, but without the Albanians. Wishful thinking. Why go through all the rhetoric of proclaiming Kosovo as an integral part of one's sovereign territory, but refuse to deal with 90% of the people there? If Serbia provided more practical reasons than emotional to the Kosovo situation, the world might take it more seriously.

Sooner or later, the Serbs will have to face the rality: the lost Kosovo in 1999 when Milosevic ordered the deportation of the population and the assassination of some 10 000 civilians.
