US-Serbia military cooperation

I'm puzzled. Why do the Serbians want to get closer to the US, especially militarily? They were bombed by US and NATO in 1999, and US wants to break Kosovo away. On the other hand, it seems to me Russia has given Serbia a lot of political support all this time.

Why every normal country in the world wants close cooperation with the USA?!?Cause they are masters of the world in which we live,at least for now...so this is wise policy-to improve as much as possible all sorts of cooperation(including military) with Yankees and ,at the same time,to maintain good relations that we have with Russian bear who has oil,gas etc.So,Tadic to do his job in Washington,Kostunica in Moscow=good for Serbia!

Serbia and its defence officials are doing what every county that has aspired to join the EU and NATO have done: Build Relationships with European and North American Partners.

All Serbia is doing is getting one step closer to integrating into the Euro-Atlantic institutions.

Also, this has been done for centuries. Smaller countries usually send their military personel to foriegn schools to keep their military forces and structure up to date. Remember Serbia is no more the old SFRJ where R&D and keeping up to date was easier. And even during that time Yugoslav officers went to staff colleges in Moscow.

Now with lower levels of threat to Serbia (some may disagree) and with the realization that such a large military is financially out of the question Serbia is reforming/transforming its military to better suit its needs.

That was a rant. Hopefully it made sense!
