The Serbs still dream of Kosovo as their own, even after their war killed thousands of innocent people, including my beloved family and friends.
There will never be stability in Eastern Europe without Kosovo independence.
If the US and Europe want peace in the Balkans they need to accept Kosovo's independence this year. \
This way we won't have to teach our children to hate Serbians. Generations from now our kids won't have to see each other as enemies, but as friends.

I don't understand tadic's surprise ? Every one know very vell how Serbia has been rouling out Kosovo for last 15 years. NO one would accept to go back and experience same barabarism Milosevic did.In Serbia, when is Kosovo question's is nothing changed instant of Milosevic is Tadic or Kostunica whatever they have same politics. Serbia has to realize one thing that all world is looking on the future not on the past even Kosovo never belonged to serbs. Population in Kosovo allways was in favor of albanianas, even after all massive departures in the past not just from Kosovo territory ( actual border) dont forget that albanians until 1878 used to live from nis vilayet and all other territories till kosovo border . You have to realise one thing that today is diffirent time and diffirent world, you are late for over 100 years so please accept reality and tell you're people truth that you're politics has failed. Let the Serbs in Kosovo to have they on lives with highest standart in the world that Kosovo goverment offers for them. Also if they want voluntary to sale the property and live in Serbia they getting best prices in the world for they property.

It is a good thing that serbian president realized that Kosova will be independent. It is the will of the kosovar albanian majority who wants independence and that will must be respected.

My "friend" there is no other country in the world that did what Serbians did,in 10 years they made war in Sllovenia , Croatia ,Bosnia,Kosova,to many have been killed, masacres ,executions. It is not only Albanians that don't want to live with them anymore, nobody wants to live with Serbians anymore, not even Montenegriens ,that have the same religion, language , haritage and soon i'm "afride" that even Serbia itself will be devided in two, pro western one side(civilized) and pro wars another side savages). It migh have precedents in other countries,of course it should have ,if the goverment kills ,execute and ethnic clinsing 1 milion people in one week .Don't think that you lost Kosova , think diffrent, like ok anyway was never ours ,we used it as much as we could, everything has an end .Churches will be protected like any other cultural mounument ,exept those churches build after 1990.

Mr. Tadic has to get to the country and tell to Serbia citizens the truth: Kosova is an independent country and we have nothing to do against it. He has to agree to the new reality and should support Albanians in forming their new country since Milosevic had done a lot of harm to them and the least he can do is try to make it better now and not continue Milosevic's policy as Kostunica is doing.

Mirko, have you ever been to Kosovo?
Most Kosovars are Albanian and they don't want to live in Serbia. They want to be independent. Since they comprise 95% of the popullation there they should have the right to choose.
It bafles me when Serbs from Serbia get so uptight about Kosovo independence when more than 70% of them have never visited kosovo nor do they plan to do so. If it was the cradle of your civilisation you would think that going there would be a duty for Serbs, but it's not.
So let it go my friend, and let's go to the EU together.

There is no such thing as "sovereignty" in the Balkans, at least not yet. This area is going through the final stages of resolving the issues that date back to the retreat of the Ottoman Empire.

Somehow the world wars and the communist years put these processes on hold. The fall of communism re-initiated them in the 1990's.

No matter how complicated people attempt to make all this, it is very simple.

Areas that were a part of the Ottoman Empire, without own armies were taken over by force by countries that had their independence for decades (and were able to create their own armies) as the ottomans were retreating. These territories that were taken by force in the beginning of the 20th century are finally being allowed to decide about their own fate.

Unlike other areas in the region where the occupiers were able to expel the residents of the areas that they occupied (example: Greece with the Ioaninna area, Serbia with the Toplica and Kosanica Areas in 1878), Serbia was unable to cleanse Kosovo of Albanians after they occupied it in 1912.

Therefore, the self-determination of the people of Kosova is one of the final stages of dissolving an artificial creature that was created by brutal force, murder and genocide in the beginning of 20th century.

They would be upset, but still wrong if they did what Serbia did in Kosovo.

Milosevic lost Kosovo, bottom line.

Why Serbia wants 2M poor, angry Albanians and all Kosovo's debt is beyond me. Kosovo is an unmovable impediment to EU membership for Serbia, and the international community is going to be in Kosovo forever keeping it afloat (both for Albanians and for Serbs).

Move on and get Serbs jobs and a brighter future!

"US ambassador to Serbia, Michael Polt, said that a decision has not yet been made on the status, but that Serbia should not see Kosovo independence as a loss."

What other way are you suppose to see the tear up of a sovereign country?
I would love to see how any other western country would react if this were to happen to them.
