Serbia still without internet code

Serbia’s internet community believes the code “SP” in no way relates to the country.

I propose Serbia internet and country code to be either SP or RS (SRPSKA or REPUBLIKA SRPSKA). SP because SB is taken by Solomon Islands and SE is taken by Sweden.

It is hard to believe that this type of article, concerning an almost trivial topic, can attract so many comments, but the most important ones pertaining to the economy and political issues go completely and apparently unnoticed.

CP for СРБИЈА would be a fine domain name, not less congruent with the silly rules than the "hr" for Croatia, "ch" for Conf.Helvetique/sCHweiz etc.

This is preposterous. The real reason for the denial of the .RS extension has solely to do with the fact that RS can also stand for Republika Srspka, which we all know is thankfully considering leaving the impossible state that is Bosnia. Allotting us the .RS extension would only serve to unite our people further, which is certainly something that the west adamantly opposes.

I believe Serbia wishes to steer clear of its treatorous 50 years of Yugoslav history, how about CP for CP6NJA? I dont know. Just no Yugoslav or South Slav stuff, please.

There is another alternative: SU (as in Surbia) (!)

Why not ask for a long form: .serbia?

The internet naming system has been very inflexible and could be a bit more imaginative in what it allows - no harm in asking!
