To Tiron: Since you like asking so many questions, here's one for you; Since when are Albanians considered pure Illyrians ?? Who do YOU think YOU are claiming that Albanians used to own most of southern Europe ? I don't really like this Albanian propaganda either.

There is one Serb argument I really don't seem to understand in this Kosovo issue: Serbian claim to historical rights in Kosovo. Since when does the short-lived golden age period of medieval Serbia replace all the Dardanian/Illyrian/Albanian history in Kosova? Since when is Kosovo's history more important to Serbs than to Albanians?? Albanians have inhabited the region long before Serbs, and are even to this day the majority in Kosova. Yes, Serbia did comprise of Kosovo and a big chunk of the Balkans all the way to Central Greece in the 12-13th centuries. So, does that mean you are claiming Central Greece as well? Illyrians (Albanians) did inhabit the whole West Balkans from the North Italy/Slovenia border area to Southern Greece for a few centuries BC. Do you hear us claiming these areas? Serbia has the same rights to Kosovo as does Turkey, Italy (Ancient Rome) and so on... because all of these countries governed Kosovo at one point in time. All of this seems history to me, interesting maybe, but not something to base Kosova's status on. Thank god the West does not buy into this kind of Milosevic-style propaganda. The people of Kosova want independence and will not stop fighting for their freedom from a regime that has historically been oppresive towards them. The sooner you let Kosova go the better for you. By letting go I mean: "let it go from your minds, and be in peace with it"...because in real-life independence is inevitable-it's the only possible solution.

Response to Serb 1990.
You claim that traditionally US and Serbs were /are allies.
I personaly don't think so and the reason is that ever since the Yug. disentigrated Serbs have looked up on Moscow and showed a lot of disrispect for Washington. IN SECOND WORLD WAR YOU DID NOT FIGHT ALONSIDE EACH OTHER , RATHER YOU SHOULD SAY THAT ALLIES LED BY USA CAME TO YOUR RESCUE.
Keep one thought in mind that USA has set its course on Ballkan policy and you will not be able to change that course, is to late now the damage is done and cannot go backawards.

Responding to Mr. Shanks, even though today Beograd is the most populous region of Serbia, back in the day (prior to invasions by the Ottomans, Balkan Wars, Nazis, Communists), Serbs were concentrated around Kosovo, Montenegro, Macedonia (back then Skopje was the capital of the Serbian Empire), most of Bosnia, Hercegovina, Sumadija, and Niseva.

The Serbian population has been under attack for almost a thousand years in these regions, and it is sad that the Albanians (becoming a nation in 1914) lay claim to these regions (by riding the momentum of invaders like Hitler's Nazi Germany or the Turkish Ottoman Empire.

I think that traditionally the USA will have our back since we are traditional allies (fought 2 World Wars together in the name of freedom), and oppossed communism. Serbia is an ally on the War on Terror (we have terrorists in Kosovo and Macedonia today, Montenegro is becoming more shady every day).

The USA-at least run by a congress that respects Serbian contributions and the fact that it is in USA's interests to have a strong partner in southeastern Europe such as Serbia.

Mr. Shanks, apparently you were reading the wrong history book on the Balkans. Kosovo was part of the medieval Serbian kingdom. You mistake what you read for modern 19th century Serbia, which did not gain Kosovo until 1912. Medieval Serbia comprised many areas that are in today's Albania, Croatia, Bosnia, and Montenegro. Not that this is a justification of reclaiming these lands, but the entire region, Kosovo included, was part of that kingdom. Belgrade didn't become anything close to a capital until 1804. You need to go back and reread your history if you claim you've read a lot about the region.

I am an American and do not side with Albaninans or Serbs. I have read a lot about the history of Balkans, and I am very suprised that Serbian govermant says that; Kosovo was part of Serbian Kingdom until Ottoman Empire took over and ruled much of Balkans. This is simly not true. Serbian Kingdom comprised of Belgrade and its surroundings. Geographycly very tiny Kingdom. How in the world Kosovo was part of that Kingdom, which is very far away from Belgrade. I am very sorry but Serbian govermant is daydreaming and not being honest with its people.
As for Tatiana comments; Do not beleive that Russian President cares about Kosovo , because Russia has problems of its own and the last thing in their mind is Kosovo. Simply put do not count on Russians.Besides ,they will not go aginst USA decission on this issue. When time comes to vote on Security Council, Russia and China will obstain but will never vote against or use veto powers, against US of America.
Mark my words on this one.

The tactic of delay by the Albanian delegations in order to stall the ultimate reconciliation of all the people within Kosovo will fail. The hopes of dragging the process along until the International Community throw up their hands in frustration and gives you independence will not happen as long as Russia hold the trump card....VETO! If the argument holds that Kosovo Albanians want to move and join the EU, with continued examples of desecrating churches, murder, violence, and intimidation, how is this a reflection of your society, for Kosovo, for all it's citizens? However you want to sugar coat it, it's not good. As referenced by an Albanian, Toni from Toronto... the Albanian plan of action is to outbreed it's neighbors and declare majority with a 10 year window of opportunity....it's an invasion pure and simple with the ultimate goal of dominating Southern Europe as a springboard of intolerance into the heart of Europe.
