International Law, European Standards, and Democratic values.....among others these were the words used by Kostunica in USA.
Michael Y, tell me please which one of these Serbia has respected in the past now that they are calling upon them.
Independence is the only solution for Kosova. Any other solution means war in: Serbia, Kosovo, FYROM, Albania, MonteNegro.

I believe it is time for International Community to make amends of the 1913 London Conference that took away Kosovo from its motherland. The period of creating new states in the world is not over. Let Kosovo be completely free and independent. Let them show that they do know how to govern. And let Serbia, Kosovo and the whole Western Balkan join EU as soon as they are ready. We should look forward to our joint future, members of EU.

One might have given weight to an argument by the Kosovar Albanians for independence during the Milosevic regime. America's Declaration of Independence is eloquent regarding the fight against tyranny. However, their argument is now without merit in that Serbia is a democratic country and it is offering its province, Kosovo, enormous autonomy in their own affairs. The Albanians cannnot reasonably claim that they are subjected to "tyranny" any more, as they would have far more liberty under Kostunica's solution than the American colonists did. Simply wanting independence is not enough, just ask the American South of the 1860s. Kostunica is right. Autonomy is the only just and generous compromise under international law with respect to the democratic republic of Serbia and its right to internationally recognized territorial integrity, including within it its provence of Kosovo. The Kosovar Albanians want it all, but that is not the definition of a compromise.

Prime Minister Kostunica is right. The international community does not have the right to take away 15% of Serbia's land. The Albanians are in Kosovo because of illegal immigration from Albania. They have a country of their own.
There are many Albanians all over Serbia and Montenegro - but the Albanians have driven 200,000 Serbs and others from Kosovo.
Why should they get their way because they are once again threatening violence? They are a minority in Serbia - why should they dictate terms? The majorities rule in Croatia and Slovenia (where there are very few other ethnic minorities).
Why hasn't the UN brought back the 200,000 Serbs and others to Kosovo if it wants a multi-ethnic "society" in Kosovo? Instead, it has encouraged the violence the Albanians are still conducting against the Serbs.

For one, the reason why there are no Serbs in Kosovo institutions is pressure from Belgrade.
And, since when has Covic taken it upon himself to represent the Croatians?

Cooperation..fulfilling it's obligation...compromise..These are the words which are echoed time and again within institutional organs or today's modern political chambers. For who's benefit? Ultimately, the territorial integrity of a nation is at stake. Let us not forget, that autonomy provided to the Albanian minority after WWII was provided by Tito, a communist Hungarian/Croat who intentionally made every effort to split Serbs at every turn. From Kosovo to Vojvodina, Serbia was the only country to provide autonomous regions within former Yugoslavia (FACT). To make matters worse, internal borders were redrawn by Nazi Germany during it's occupation of Yugoslavia, and left in place by Tito (FACT). This illegal armed take over by a terrorist organization (US State Dept 1993, FACT), is the reward Serbia has been granted after the sacrifices of the 20th Century. Serbia "found it's soul" after resisting the Nazi invaders per Winston Churchill, I'd hate to see the rewards if we had let Hitler pass. I ask again, for who's benefit? Not Serbia.

Mr. Covic's argument on the 12000 Croats that used to live in Kosovo is true. However he forgot to mention that most of them left during the Milosevic regime. During the time when he was Milosevic’s peon.
What can I say, a true Balkan politician!
