Two years ago, the German army was preparing for military exercises with other NATO members and their troops had to use broom handles during practice because they did not have enough guns to go around. The military had to scrounge to find enough weapons before sending them to these exercises. Half of their fighter jets are inoperable and in essence the German military is a mess that requires decades of spending to bring it up to a fighting force standard so how are they going to take on the Russians?
