The invasion of Ukraine was Putin's greatest mistake that will hurt Russia for generations. He had Crimea and most of the Donbas in 2014 and should have been happy with that. It cost very few Russian lives and the West, although complaining, essentially accepted the loss of Crimea. It was de facto Russian territory. And Putin got Crimea without firing a shot. Today, he risks losing it all. Massive mistake on Putin's part.

What is a mercenary? That’s a person that is paid and fights in an army but is not a citizen of that country and a good example is the French Foreign Legion. These guys are mercenaries. The US has mercenaries since there are other people in their ranks that fight for money, but they call them contractors.
Are Wagner mercs? No, they are not since ALL members of that group are Russians – no foreigners in there.
What is the difference between Wagner and the Russian army? Wagner is commanded by Russians military officers that have transferred from the Russian army to that group and when their contract finishes, they can either stay or return to the Russian military. Medals awarded to Wagner soldiers are the same as those awarded in the Russian military. Wagner offers greater pay but that is offset because its a very dangerous job as frontline shock troops. These guys are at the broken end of a bottle all the time.
Does Wagner recruit from prisons? Yes, they do but they only take people with military experience and do not take in murderers, rapists or child molesters etc.
Now what is Yevgeny Prigozhin talking about? He has made many statements over these months and it seems he is after a political career when this is over. He wants to look like he is looking after his men, and he is, but this is all part of that image he is creating for later on. Remember billionaires get bored and seek more power.

How do you think Putin was supposed to protect Russians in that region when 14,000 were killed and some even burned alive since 2014?
What was he supposed to do about that?
NATO was itching for war and any way to provoke Russia into it even saying Ukraine was going to be a NATO member.
Also, Germans admitted that they never had any intention of sticking to any agreement they made with Russia and were only stalling for time to arm Ukraine.

Now what was Russia supposed to do?

1. Ukraine stuck to the agreements they signed on neutrality. Angela Merkel said it openly last year that the EU and Ukraine had no intent on honouring the signed agreements. It was merely to buy time to arm Ukraine.

2. Since 2014 Ukraines troops have bombarded east Ukraine where ethnic Russians live with approx 15000 civilians killed.
3. Kiev was determined to hound the Russians and even banned Russian language in public places.

I feel sorry for the Ukrain, sad that there is death and destruction. But a lot of it was their odn making. I hope it ends soon and when it does end that Kiev honours ehatever they sign.

If your implying that I have served in such a group, no I have never served in the military, but I am well educated and know many things and most importantly keep up to date on numerous issues. I also have friends who know a lot about these issues which range from academia to military and business.
The Wagner group Russians they are not classified as mercenaries but Russians unlike your US that employs foreigners as mercenaries opps contractors. Sorry that was Freudian slip. Hey Betty have they fixed up East Palestine yet?

I believe Garasimov has stepped and put a stop to all this nonsense from the Wagner Group . Regardless , the full training and mobilization of Russian troops has been completed . All hell in all its fury is ready to be released . Zelensky will be wiped off the map one way or another very soon.
