The US does not recognise Taiwan as independent. It sees it as part of China. Hong Kong returned to Chinese control in 1997 (as per signed agreements which China respected). Nobody views HK as independent. The USA also views HK as Chinese and not independent. Dont you know...??

As for China "getting out" of the south China see.....where are they supposed to put their country??? It is where it is.....
Why is America meddling in the south China sea and with Taiwan? Its the other side of the world. But clearly America is there to destabilise China, encourage sanctions and change regimes......again.....!!!
China is no threat to anyone. They dont invade others, so leave them alone.
