The smart ones will put down their weapons and join the winning side. The problem with your theory is that the Russians have the S400 and S550 that are purely there for such an event should the US of Knuckle heads decide to do such a thing. These systems have proven highly effective against HIMARS and other missiles. The real question is how are the Washington knuckle head brigades going to stop a hypersonic glyder or missile targeting their military facilities in Europe or even the US? They have NOTHING to stop them.

Since 2014 the Russian media has reported the Ukrainian side bombarding ethnic Russians in east Ukraine. They also reported that Ukraine had tore up all signed agreements on neutrality. They reported that Kiev had all but outlawed the Russian language.
