I think time has come to test the Serbs and by extension Russians. While Russia is occupied elsewhere, Albanians think they can make their move and Serbia will be powerless to resist. Serbia can't fight alone so use this opportune moment to get what they want.

True, many Serbs were fooled into thinking that supporting the Partisans they were building unity and brotherhood and were happy to share Yugoslavia with their enemies. This was a huge mistake because Tito rewarded the Serbs with loss of their land and allowed Albanians to hop over the border into Kosovo.
Serbs were betrayed but their hearts were in the right place. Chetniks were betrayed by England and support was given to Partisans. The Serbs were left without a choice.
