They have cut off 60,000 or so Ukranian troops and in the process of converging and eliminating them avoiding all the larger cities. The Ukranian military are using civilians as shields, perfect example is the Kiev shopping centre where the Russians obliterated it. Russian as pretty well secured the provincial borders of Donetsk and Luhansk. Mariupol is within those boundaries. Mariupol is the headquarters of the Azov Nazi battalion, they are being crushed as we speak.
