Djokovic had not fulfilled the requirements for entering Australia, plain and simple. He did not take seriously what the necessary conditions were. He, as a privileged athlete, though the rules of the tournament were for everyone else, flaunting his perceived self importance. We all now know how that turned out.

That is true, but his legal team asked for 3 judges to sit on this appeal and that request was approved. Now if they rule in favour of Djokovic and he is still deported that would technically be a massive blow to the Australian legal system. You have to understand that this is a Federal Court with the next level being the High Court and nothing after that. Internationally it would be an even bigger blow to Australian legal system's credibility to rule on matters without government interference.

Reasons for cancelling Djokovic's visa for a second time, Immigration Minister Alex Hawke conceded the unvaccinated tennis star poses a "negligible" risk of spreading Covid-19 to others. But he could stoke "anti-vaccination sentiment" and encourage others to disregard isolation rules LOL.
Its called grasping at straws, but maybe this court could be a way out for the government who could say, if Djokovic wins, the court has ruled and its final. The idiots have painted themselves into a corner and don't know how to get out.
