There's no "east versus west" aspect to this at all. Australia's always been hardcore about their borders--bordering on paranoia. In November the federal ("Commonwealth") government informed Tennis Australia that a previous infection with COVID19 would NOT meet the criterion for a medical exemption. He's not an Australian citizen or permanent residence, so he only gets to work within the rules.
Had he given up his ridiculous paranoia about COVID19 vaccination, none of these would have happened.

This isn’t about safety. This is about making him an example and appearing tough against antivax populations. Australia swinging it around. Let’s just see it for what it is. Not logic. Not safety. Politics and popular opinion.

Now we are imprisoning and throwing non vaccinated people out of our countries despite them being some of the healthiest individuals on the planet. World has lost its mind.
