I think in the end, China and USA colluded to let this happen.
Why, both leaders get opinion poll boost, the virus gets the blame for economic downturn instead of govt policies of never ending money printing and excessive credit and it gives both countries an excuse to roll out draconian surveillance and lockdown policies all in the name of protecting the nation.
