Joining the EU is similar to the law of diminishing returns, the benefits are much larger for the early adopters.Joining the EU you are relinquishing other trade agreements such as favorable trade status with Russia, Asia and the open Balkans. If you adopt the EU currency, you lose control of your monetary policy but the biggest price is the loss of sovereignty. Serbia real problem is tackling corruption , the judiciary system and still its large inefficient government worker base.

But, most ridiculous of all is Orbán stating that the EU needs Serbia more than Serbia needs the EU.

You just don't get it. Serbia does not need the EU. I know its hard to understand because people like you think its impossible and the EU is the land of milk and honey where you want for nothing.
Why not bypass Serbia and take Montenegro or Macedonia to show Serbia this shangra-la ? What's the harm? Because this is 2021 to 1991, that's why.

European Union is pretty good.
(Just to have a long debate with Sken1444: none of us is sure, is it really good or not).

In all seriousness: for me, as a small заяц it is rather beneficial.
For countries... depends on. I liked seeing so many projects on Balkans lately where the financing was helped by EU.

Than, at last, some horrible gangsters from Pristina are now in Hague.

But I am afraid, more gangsters are stealing the money from the projects. The EU has a huge bureaucratic head filled with water. It is absolutely inefficient. Many politicians are recycled losers (like Ursula). Some of them (same Ursula!) suffer from russophobia.

But for me, personally EU turned to be much better, than no EU.
Compared with the horribly corrupt Orbán regime EU sounds like a relief.

It is comical watching Serbia attempt to use reverse psychology, pretending they are not interested in joining the EU.What is even more hilarious is that Serbia has convinced Hungary and the Czech Republic to corroborate that it is not favorable for Serbia to join the EU. But, most ridiculous of all is Orbán stating that the EU needs Serbia more than Serbia needs the EU.

Jiri Kobza your honesty and advice about joining the EU is most appreciated but I seriously doubt that Serbia will join it. SAs was recently said at the gathering at Bled Slovenia, the EU needs Serbia more than Serbia needs the EU.

The leanings here are clear, and some balance would likely help. Otherwise you pander to same fears. Jiri isn’t the greatest open mind on the market, in case you weren’t aware.
