The simple fact is that unless those who selfishly refuse to follow the simple preventitive measures, wearing a mask and social distancing, are punished then the situation will continue to deteriorate for everyone. Where are the police or inspectors on public transport refusing entry to anyone not wearing a mask? Where are the police in the city centre controlling the packed cafes? I see bus drivers without masks, waiters without masks, packed cafes and bars full of people without masks. Just yesterday, I sat and watched, from a distance, as a waiter in a city centre cafe served countless customers without wearing a mask. On several occasions he wiped his nose with his hand and then with that same hand passed cups and glasses to customers! The measures required are really not that difficult to follow and enforcing them is really not that difficult to do. They must be enforced fairly and without any kind of favouritism. Only when this happens will we have any possibility of seeing things improve. It seems that the only thing most people understand is money, so start fining anyone who ignores the restrictions. Maybe then these selfish fools might start to pay attention.
