Swedish model of fighting COVID-19 failed

The Swedish approach to combating COVID-19 failed. The fact that they hoped that the herd's immunity would stop the virus, obviously doesn't work.

Failed my asset.
B92, besides, it's USA Today, not US Today.
Than, who said? An unnamed group from Sweden said it to a sem-tabloid USA Today.

Yawn.

How is it not working? Cases down, days of zero deaths, no sign of a spike, people still living life.

The stats all point to success and this article is short on any actual analysis

5600+ deaths is to much but I still think Sweden does the right thing and trust science and not populistic actions that we see else were...

This would be fine if the Swedes were telling the truth about their infections and deaths rates. Germany claims they only have 200,000 infected and 9,000 dead, but if you believe this then the tooth fairy is alive and well.
For months the US claimed their infection and death rates were very low, but today they are losing about 1,000 per day and the pandemic is out of control there. Herd immunity means many many deaths both young and old.
There are very few countries that are honest with their information.

The Swedish authorities has commented on the reason for not going in to lock down is that "You can't lock people up for any longer period of time". It seems that every other country is starting to realize this as well. But they claim to have "won" over the virus. Then they let everyone out with no immunity and with the virus having a larger spread than when going in to lock down in the first place. Then people gather, the spread grows and they're just as bad off as if they hadn't gone in to lock down in the first place, often even worse.

The only countries that have had successful lock downs are the one that have been able to control their population. The countries that haven't are now worse off then before but when they try to reintroduce measures they find that the population unwilling to participate. This is what the Swedish model was about from the start. An country that loosens restriction while the situation looks worse than when those restrictions where introduced does so out of necessity, not because there is less of a threat from the virus.

Hmmm...Swedens death rate has been declining since the peak in April and much likely there will not be a second wave and this without using look down methods. So I would say Sweden strategy has been successful and we are halfway through the pandemic were other countries have not even started their pandemic journey. 5600+ deaths is to much but I still think Sweden does the right thing and trust science and not populistic actions that we see else were...
