It is sad when western block countries fail to support countries in need, they mock recipients and countries that do give generous donations. This article is written in that fashion, dictated by western handlers. What do you expect that we will welcome you with an open arms after bombing us in 1999? And even then there was no help for cleaning of 10 tonnes of depleted uranium. I wish Serbia and Serbian people NEVER forget this.

China brought the Coronavirus to Serbia, what more do we want, whereas, Russia has turned their back on us. The EU is worse off than Serbia where covid19 is concerned, how can we expect any help from them.

Better a useful Chinese and Russian idiot and reaping the rewards than living in poverty while rocking oneself and repeating I want freedom and democracy.
One thing I have learnt with the west and there is no such thing as an interest free loan. Just ask the Croats who now are awaiting with open arms this new Brussels package for EU economies, while Zagreb is trying to sell it as a free money, but its far, far from that.

" It was not exactly what they would want to hear from a government that claims it is doing its utmost to join the EU."

Lesson 1

If you want to join EU, your reaction to them banning export of medical supplies to your country during the crisis should have been "Thank you!" as the only appropriate reaction they want to hear.

"Unlike most of Europe, Serbia is following the Chinese model of isolating..."

"But Serbian officials are hopeful that implementing the strict Chinese measures early will mean the country avoids a large-scale epidemic as seen in western European countries."

Lesson 2

Guardian journalist is right to point this out. If you want to join, you should implement European measures even if it leads to a large-scale epidemic. You should finally decide, what's more important? Saving the lives by implementing measures that worked, or joining EU?
