When Tesla and Pupin were around that was a very different US; it was country and what I have posted is correct.
Yes, both did push for the creation of Yugoslavia; a very flawed idea supported by some of the most intelligent people where Serbs would be in one country, but the problem is they also took in Croats, an insidious people.
Read Zivojin Misic’s assessment of Croats and his suggestion for a Serb state. Sadly, King Alexander wanted to be emperor of the Balkans and gave away lands to Croats and others. How anyone still harbors good ideas of a Yugoslavia is beyond me. Serbia propped up it all 3.
After WW2 Tesla abandoned that idea, but Tito et al spread the lie that Tesla was still a strong Yugoslav. Tesla lost many family members in concentration camps.
Hollywood and the US government have had a long relationship in making films that suited the US administration. Today, universities are no different. The University of Columbia of Pupin’s time is not the same institution today.
The US is an empire not a country and all empires behave differently to states. The US empire does not care about its own people so why should they be concerned about anyone else?
As I said, if it suited Washington’s machination Adolph Hitler would be revised as having good intentions.
