so it would seem precondition to discussions is to put a framework in place that relates to one of a possible discussed and agreed upon outcomes of the discussion. this is more than just putting the cart before the horse.

i will only discuss a divorce if i am guaranteed to get the house and the cars and the boats and the kids, you can have the debt. then and only then will we discuss our divorce and what we get in the settlements.
