I was in Madagascar earlier this year and quite enjoyed myself. My MTS SIM card didn't function there. But the Telma SIM card and service was so cheap that I couldn't possibly complain.

It wasn't any worse than trying to use a Romanian SIM card in Thailand. Just cheaper.
