Well I , for one, does not wish them good luck. I do not want to see the German perspective gaining popularity at the UN. They have made a mess of Europe three times in the last 110 years and now they want to mess up the world even more. The US, China, Russia and the UK will keep them in their place...

Well I , for one, does not wish them good luck. I do not want to see the German perspective gaining popularity at the UN. They have made a mess of Europe three times in the last 110 years and now they want to mess up the world even more. The US, China, Russia and the UK will keep them in their place...

Good luck to Berlin.My experience of Germany on the Council is not great.Over ambitious prescriptive and lacking in depth experience. But above all lacking the soft power of experience in Africa and elsewhere.More important than that is a real will to be involved without caveats when things get tough.....History remains a burden. Everyone says they would like a stronger Germany, but no one likes it when they show strength.The article suggests that Germany has taken a lead in UN peacekeeping. Not true . Consistently underperforming as a very rich nation.But good luck.
