Yeah, I remember the days of Sutanovac and Tadic. They totally diminished the Serbian army to nothing with the sales pitch, "A smaller but a more effective army." I recall Tadic constantly reassuring the US that they can do whatever they wish and that Serbia would never retaliate. This was done so that any country including Montenegro and Albania could just waltz in and destroy Serbia. The DS were the worst traitors as a political party in Serbian history. They should all be held for high treason!! His idea is a double whammy, first, we lose Kosovo, then we join an organization that will even further put Serbia in demise.

I truly believe that the vast majority of serbias population is very anti-Russian orientated, however the minority Serbian radicals find ways of suppressing the majoritys voices and pro western sentiments!
The Serbian majority also acknowledge that
The Republic Of Kosova is a reality that has finally set Serbia free from her radical past and would like to move forward now!
All these radical Serbian trolls here and other news forums are paid trolls that receive compensation from the radicals running the current government and the religious clergy of radical Serbia!!!

I was watching Cedo in a debate with a historian on a Serbian news channel. He got hot under the collar and the show was shortened as a result. This guy is an American bought agent. He would sellout Serbia in a blink of an eye yet, he's still living there?

I guess the fact that Serbian opposition to NATO membership approaches the 90%ile should be disregarded. How democratic.

Macedonia has been on the cusp of membership since 2005 and the same rhetoric vis-a-vis Greece (were on the cusp of agreement) has been claimed many time since. Nothing indicates this time is different.

The Dodik thing just indicates how slimy he is. Same goes with SuNATOvac who when in power and capable of influencing policy wouldn't there make calls for Serbia to join.

Sutanovac was a failure in government. His DS is just as responsible for the sorry state of Serbia economically and socially as all the reformists post-2000 are.

The latest polls show DS being unable to enter parliament, even if it went in coalition with most of the former big parties in coalition they'd score 10%. These ravings about NATO are a spent and increasingly irrevelant political force seeking to survive by curring favour with certain foreign ambassadors. It'd be better if all these spent forces dissolved and let something new fill the void, oh and return the money they spent and go to an honest days work --- but then they wouldn't be politicians.

But what's the difference? I said in a hypothetical poll, given a choice most Serbians ages 18 to 45 would trade Serbian citizenship for American citizenship. You said they would rather go to England. Maybe that's true but that was not a choice. Given the choice I offered I think most would choose the US. Do you agree or disagree with my original statement?

I am not talking about brands. I don't think anything is made in the US. I am talking about shirts with slogans on them. Sit in front of any cafe on Knez Mihailova any day and read the shirts as they walk by. Go to the stores at Usce, Delta, or Pyramid and read all of the t-shirts in Zara, Bershka, Pull and Bear etc. They are all in English. I keep joking that I need to start writing shirts. Even many of the stores have English names.

Like Thomas, I am also an American living in Serbia. I love Serbia as much as you. But we need to be realistic. It is a difficult place to live. There are many challenges. And yet there is much good that can be found if we are looking for it.

We need to hold these in a realistic relationship, with negative points strongly outweighing the good ones but with a cheerful spirit and hope for the future.

US film industry shows how good and exciting life is there and people around the world lap it up.
Maybe once there were opportunities in the west not offered in the east but not so now. The west is declining and divide between rich and poor is widening.
The only reason Serbs, Croats etc want to move to US or UK is because they haven't lived in today's west.
