I was a serving British army soldier and went into Pristina Airport in 1999 after the air campaign. I witnessed holes in the runway that was not created by traditional weaponry. It looked like the runway had melted where the munitions hit. It was stated at the time that DU munitions had been used. Myself and many others became ill whilst out in Kosovo with unexplained sickness and diarea. It was said by some that it was radiation sickness. I am living a healthy life today.

In addition, although some mistakes were made by NATO, NATO did not use those weapons or any other weapons to deliberately target civilians or unlawful military targets during the campaign.
(icj1, 24 May 2018 02:56)

Unfortunately, NATO also hit the Greek consulate in NIS , accident of course.
(Jugoslavija, 25 May 2018 00:17)

Exactly... That was an unfortunate accident and not a deliberate targeting of civilians or unlawful military targets. I'm glad you finally got it.

Use of DU is not banned by any international treaty.
Cluster Munitions are not banned either although there is a later treaty where certain countries have agreed not to use them. (Serbia has not signed the treaty)
(Dwight, 24 May 2018 16:10)

Neither are Chemical and Biological weapons of which the US bombed Syrian over false flag.
(Jugoslavija, 25 May 2018 00:09)

Either DU was dropped on your head directly or you are a by-product from your unfortunate biological experiment gone wrong.

The use of chemical and biological weapons is prohibited by the Protocol for the Prohibition of the Use in War of Asphyxiating, Poisonous or other Gases, and of Bacteriological Methods of Warfare which is signed in 1925, entered into force in 1928 and Syria is a signatory since 1968.

Also your "false flag" conspiracy theory is just a... conspiracy theory since the UN has already found that the Syrian Arab Republic is responsible for the release of sarin in Syria.

I see that the usual pseudo-scientists are at it again trying to prove that black is white. Haven't they learned not to under estimate their opponents in debate. As a consequence, their ridiculous claims have caused them to be hoisted by their own petard. Not only that, but their usual devious attempts at fibbing have labeled their country a nation of pathological liars.

Either DU was dropped on your head directly or you are a by-product from your unfortunate biological experiment gone wrong. NATO bombs wiped out the Chinese Embassy, a direct hit. The RTS television station took a direct hit but the Greek television stations continue to show NATO aggression. Unfortunately, NATO also hit the Greek consulate in NIS , accident of course. I know that specific mutations can be identified as causing cancer and with hereditary diseases is easier. However in general you can't prove the initial trigger although you can make assumptions/inferences.
There is no way that an Italian union leader can say with any certainty that exactly 3764 soldiers got cancer from depleted uranium exposure when investigations by doctors and scientists say otherwise

I don't think anyone would say that DU is harmless but the cancer/uranium scaremongering is one of a long line of events where Serbia exaggerates events to portray itself as a victim.
if an increase in cancer was found, why wont they publish the data? On top of that, peoples lives were turned upside down, destroyed medical facilities, no medicine, poor diet, population movement, conventional weapons, stress etc could all be factors if an increase was found.

The headline NATO Bombing Consequences Commission is misleading. It is not a NATO commission, but a group of Serbian politicians who are pushing the Serb line. Serbs will undoubtedly "prove" that there are more frequent cancer occurrances in Serbia due to NATO depleted uranium ammunition use in 1999 than the cancer occurrence rate in Hiroshima and Nagasaki where the full fat uranium was used. Serbs even have a song for that. Yes, you guessed correctly who will sing it!

Thomas

Cigarette smoking in Serbia (and the Balkans) causes more cancer than all of the depleted Uranium dropped by NATO.

Nearly 50% of people smoke here compared with 15% in the US. You are killing yourselves voluntarily.

How come nobody is trying to fix that?

I can just imagine the investigative team wearing gloves to pick up the depleted Uranium in the field with cigarettes hanging out of their mouths. Oh the irony!

What is clear is the use of banned substances such as depleted Uranium and cluster bombs which NATO and the US deployed on Yugoslavia and as such , should have been deliberated in the international war court in the Hague, but alas international justice does not apply to the US and NATO.
(Jugoslavija, 23 May 2018 19:14)

Of course the international justice does apply to the US an NATO and, of course, ICTY's prosecution deliberated about the use of depleted uranium and cluster bombs by NATO. However, there is no specific treaty ban on the use of depleted uranium projectiles and there is no specific treaty provision which prohibits or restricts the use of cluster bombs. In addition, although some mistakes were made by NATO, NATO did not use those weapons or any other weapons to deliberately target civilians or unlawful military targets during the campaign.

Therefore, in the absence of a ban by international law or deliberate targeting of civilians or unlawful military targets, there is nothing to prosecute. People can't be charged for doing something just because that something is banned by a certain "Jugoslavija" because nobody has appointed "Jugoslavija" to create international law.

It is much more likely that the bombing of Pancevo caused and is still causing more cancers.. The money spent on this commission would be better spent setting up specialist cancer units there.

What is clear is the use of banned substances such as depleted Uranium and cluster bombs which NATO and the US deployed on Yugoslavia and as such , should have been deliberated in the international war court in the Hague, but alas international justice does not apply to the US and NATO. Beau Biden unfortunately dies of brain cancer and DU cannot be ruled out, but Joe Biden's was clearly instrumental for the illegal bombing of a sovereign nation against the US Constitution, UN Charter, NATO Charter and Helsinki Accords.

There is no real way to tell what causes a cancer, only a probability.
For someone to say 3764 people have developed cancer because of X is not possible. I know that number is from an Italian Military Union official but I would really like to know where he got that number from .

Studies have shown that there was some clusters of cancer in Italian soldiers but despite initial fears they were within expected incidence rates. Some Italian soldiers have successfully made financial claims againt their government.
This does not mean that no-one got cancer because of DU but there are no facts that justify the level of scaremongering around DU in Kosovo or Serbia.

The government has often told us that DU from NATO caused many cancers in Serbia and Kosovo but by setting up this commission it has admitted that it does not know.
The governemnt also does not even seem to have any statistics around the number of cancers. If they had data that said cancer has increase in some areas by 100% they would have released it already
I find the wording very biased too, they want to "prove" that there are extra cancers caused by DU , they did not say that they want to investigate "if" there are more cancer cases and "if" there was a link to DU.

It is much more likely that the bombing of Pancevo caused and is still causing more cancers.. The money spent on this commission would be better spent setting up specialist cancer units there.

It deserves a proper investigation but seems there are lots of people, including Albanians, who want to cover it up. After all, it was Albanians who invited NATO to poison our sacred land.

It is much more likely that the bombing of Pancevo caused and is still causing more cancers.. The money spent on this commission would be better spent setting up specialist cancer units there.
(Dwight, 23 May 2018 15:05)

Dwight, your knowledge (or lack thereof) of cancer biology is no better than your grasp of (revisionist) Nazi/Ustasha history. I suggest you stick to apologizing for the Ustashi Croats as you obviously haven't learned about the causal effects of retinoblastoma recessive mutations and the scientific fact that children who have this genetic defect develop eye cancer. I won't even go into other recessive loss function mutants, such as p53 and their mechanistic effect on neoplastic cell growth.
We'll just laugh at you and your stupid claims in history and now cancer biology.

I could have very easily ended up working in biomathematics instead of my current one.

"National Assembly Speaker Maja Gojkovic said earlier this month that the commission's job would be to prove that NATO's use of depleted uranium during the 1999 war had impacted the rise in the number of malignant diseases in Serbia."

Their job will be to prove, not to "determine the consequences" as B92 writes in the title :). They know what they will find before even looking and are not afraid to say so :).

Or maybe hitting Milosevic residence in Dedijne was an accident as well, deliberately targeting an elected leader against the Geneva convention.

I was visiting a friend in the south and she commented that "everyone is dying of cancer these days." She said that life is terrible and hopeless, that it was so much better "before." She said that after the bombing, "everything changed."

I felt bad. But then I checked life expectancy over the past several decades and it has been continuously rising...
