Part of EU means for our farmers the end, they cant export anything the west doesnt already have, but our local markets will be destroyed.

The only way the Balkans can progress is creating their own market, call it a Balkan Free Trade zone. Tell that to the thick headed idiots running these banana republics. Joining the EU is going to see rising prices and wages will lag far behind for workers. If you are stupid enough to also sign up for the EU fiat currency, then the price increases will be even higher and loss of monetary policy to the EU. Britain was smart enough to get out, short term pain for long term gain and clearly evident by the pounding the Sterling took.

Smart Serb,
Why should we listen to you. We need jobs, after years of being treated as lepers by the rest of the world, we want a return of normal lives, something that Russia will never be able to deliver.
The EU has the most promise for Serbia.
(Nis Serb, 12 May 2018 20:19)

@ Nis Srb - Promise? lol
Yes, they "promise" Srbija a place in the EU kitchen, right in between Romania & Bulgaria or Croatia! There's more than enough sinks to go around. AND then we can take turns with Croatia, Romania & Bulgaria washing toilets in this EU kitchen "promise"....
Me thinks "Nis Serb" be more like "Nis Alb", lol

Typical of someone not living in Serbia. What you fail to understand is Serbia is also stuck in the frozen conflict, with the West making it difficult for us living in Serbia. And don't think Russia cares as they have neither the ability nor the desire to help their Slavic "brothers". In reality no one cares about the Serbs. The EU is our best bet.
(Nis Serb, 12 May 2018 20:49)

Well little Albo what has the west done for Albos in Kosovo? what industry have they opened there to alleviate the horrendous levels of unemployment? Have they cleaned up the depleted uranium in Kosovo yet?

Mind you, there are lots of westerners who have chosen Serbia as their home. It's a great country with superb cities and lots of infrastructure projects... Lots of investment pouring in and lots of jobs coming online, so much so that unfortunately, Albanians are coming here for work...

The Serbian people should have a referendum on the issues of
°E.U
°NATO
°Kosovo* independence
(Smart Serb, 11 May 2018 12:37)

Sure, but the referendum's result is only meaningful as far as Serbia's EU and NATO membership is concerned. As far as Kosovo* independence is concerned, a referendum in Serbia would have as much impact as a referendum in Zimbabwe about Kosovo* independence. However, don't get discouraged... that does not mean that Serbia can't hold referendums for whatever Serbia wishes (even if it's about the independence of the Moon) as long as Serbia's citizens don't have a problem with their money being wasted in pointless referendums.

They want us to pay what the UK used to pay, thats the reality. In return we will be obliged to take our fair share of iraqis and syrians and to feed them. In the meantime we could forget about that 2.5 or 3% gdp growth, see the average gdp growth rate in last decade for eurozone, for some it has a MINUS sign. Taxes are not enough for our poor countries to help us feed our children but what when our taxes will be directly given to some burocrats in Bruxel? It will be the end for us. Depopulated like the baltic states, the best scenario for us will be a Greek agony. Now I dont want you to loose the courage but what about focusing on real problems instead of russia against EU? The real problem is Serb the anhiliation of our national industries during last decades, we are unfortunately deindustrialized countries. Fabrics kombinats everything that was built in 50 years of socialism was destroyed. Our parents didnt have any luxury things but they could put up a family and feed children. We cant simply put it up today anymore if we think what it means to raise a child. And there's no light at the end of the tunel Germans also cant put it up enough and soon less than a decade iraq emigrants will be the only ones to breed.

@ Nis Serb What if the choice between west or russia was (I think it is) a false dilemma set forth by Galoto & western tink tanks to take over in a kind of monopoly regime our markets? We are markets dear Serb and we better put it into our thick balkanik skulls! We are just markets we are just consumers we are numbers and the only thing we can offer to EU are our relatively unsaturated markets and cheap labor. The real problem is for Albania, Kosovaaaaaa, Serbia and other nations of mentally retarded sheep that we don't focus on economy but we focus on geopolitics. Lets focus on what some friends here have told us. Leonidas: we (greeks) were doing very well before joining the EU. Ataman: we needed EU just because we can work everywhere with no visa required. Lenard: Croatia contributes by far more financially to EU and has nothing in return. Adrian from Bucharest: Our government is trying to buy back the industries that were sold to foreigners during accession to EU period. Serb when you feel like you have already hit the bottom and it couldnt get worse unfortunately the worst is yet to come. Serbia doesn't have to recognize Kosovo as a favor to Kosovo. Kosovo already has all the support it needs and can go on forever like this. The real reason why it must recognize is because the long term plan of the EU is to have both Kosovo and Serbia within its borders, and in order for that plan to work both countries must recognize each other. Not recognizing can have its consequences also, such as the West meddling in Serbia's politics so that pro-EU pro-recognition forces are elected, or the West coming up with alternative solutions such as backing an Albania-Kosovo merger, putting an even higher pressure on the international community to recognize the new reality. If the current Serbian government wants to keep pushing the West, it will only complicate its own chances for re-election and create an even bigger diplomatic nightmare for itself.

LOL, "recognize reality" and please allow Kosovo* into the UN. Why does Serbia have to agree to a damn thing if independence is a reality?

It's because only Serbia can give its southern province independence. Nobody else. Powerful Western countries can help a lot.

But even their help has a ceiling and that ceiling has been reached a long time ago. If Serbia doesnt help out, the project becomes an official failure.

I hope Serbia says no. There is nothing to gain by allowing your own territory to secede.

A bad agreement is "Kosova"*** in the UN so better to have no agreement. Serbs overwhelmingly reject EU membership at the cost of KiM.
(Zoran, 11 May 2018 11:35)

Zoran,
You are another one of those that do not have to live in Serbia. Otherwise, you would understand the longer Serbs live without an Agreement the further we fall behind economically. If you had children to raise in Serbia you would realize how difficult it is. So please don,t tell what is best for those of us having to live in Serbia. Without the EU there is no hope for Serbs living in Serbia. Now then, go back to sipping on your Macheato in some trendy cafe in the West.

Smart Serb,
Why should we listen to you.

Part of EU means for our farmers the end, they cant export anything the west doesnt already have, but our local markets will be destroyed.

The Serb leadership is finally acknowledging Kosova will be in the UN far sooner than Serbia will be allowed to join the EU. Vucic’s desire to stay in power is greater than keeping Kosova.
(The Count of Kosova, 12 May 2018 17:19)

Hold your breath until Kosova gets it seat in the UN LOL.

Its a wild world baby and it has nothing to do with Kosovo or Russia. Of course I am all for a smart agreement that would allow both parts develop and have some progress. But I have no illusions we are all markets and we are fixing a very low price for ourselves.

LOL! I live in Serbia while 80%+ of Serbian citizens agree with me, no Kosovo independence while I doubt you live in Serbia. I have lived here for ten years and the economy has improved quite well. You sound like another Albanian troll.

Mind you, there are lots of westerners who have chosen Serbia as their home. It's a great country with superb cities and lots of infrastructure projects... Lots of investment pouring in and lots of jobs coming online, so much so that unfortunately, Albanians are coming here for work...
