After Spain - Slovakia reacts over "state" of Kosovo
Slovakia is in favor of organizing the upcoming EU-Balkans summit in Bulgaria in the so-called Gymnich format - i.e., without displaying flags or state symbols.
Slovakia was very much like Romania or Spain when they were allowed to join the EU, not advanced enough, but allowed in as a package just to make a point. It was by no means comparable to EU standards when it joined. Even now you can see that its internal and international politics are not compliant with the bloc’s philosophy. It’s almost an illiberal dump like Hungary. So nice try with trying to depict Slovakia as some sort of Sweden, but we all know it’s more like a smaller version of Russia.

So the reason behind the refusal really doesn't matter the reason. What matters is that Kosovo's long term European-Atlantic aspirations are stuck (Yes, including NATO). Merkel can't even be the boss of her own people. Germans are fed up with her and she had to go into coalition and provide concessions with parties she didn't want to to keep her post. Next election may find her out of power, so I wouldn't call her anybody's boss. She's struggling to keep her post

This has been Vucic's administration biggest success...highlighting this "kosova" issue as a Global problem instead of just a Serbian one.
I can't in particular pin blame on the Albanians, they are just pawns looking to take advantage of this situation, but the audacity of what the "west" has done in this "might makes right" aggresion is stunning.
Regardless of this being a "Balkan" issue, I am glad the world is pushing back at "bullying" and showing resolve!

@ Slovakia - a country standing up to what is right...not because of "love" for Serbia, but because of integrity!
@ albs - Tomas32's comments are probably predominant amongst world opinion, but politics of intimidation & manipulation drives governments to walk the thin line of obedience...or else!
These corrupted governments are your "kosova" supporters, not the people of these countries.

Slovakia was very much like Romania or Spain when they were allowed to join the EU, not advanced enough, but allowed in as a package just to make a point. It was by no means comparable to EU standards when it joined. Even now you can see that its internal and international politics are not compliant with the bloc’s philosophy. It’s almost an illiberal dump like Hungary. So nice try with trying to depict Slovakia as some sort of Sweden, but we all know it’s more like a smaller version of Russia.
